This is a very interesting book, and certainly succeeds in providing a good introduction to the wonders of the human body.

The previous reviewers on here seemed to love this book, and while I found it a good read, I would like to mention a few minor annoyances that prevented it from earning a top rating from me.

Firstly: anatomy books need to have a lot of pictures or diagrams. While this book does have some, I felt that there weren't nearly enough. More often that not, the uninitiated reader is given a text description, and left to draw a picture in their head (or look it up somewhere else).

Secondly, the book has far, far too many cross references, in the form of text in brackets referring the reader ... Read More:

I attended a training session for this programme through my local Dyslexia Action Group and was so impressed I bought the book immediately. You do not need the training session - this manual takes the parent/teacher through the programme in tiny manageable steps (hence the title). It really works and is aimed at any age pupil. The results are amazing and FAST.

I would recommend it to anyone!

I bought this title as I already had the Literacy version which I loved. I wasn't as happy with the numeracy version, I felt it was not as easy to dip in to & hence why it got 4 stars instead of 5. Saying that it is till a good, fun numeracy book with plenty of creative ideas. In my opinion many of the ideas are more suitable for children in year 5 & 6, but the priciples can be applied to any year group. Worth the money though if you just want to 'pep' up your numeracy lessons.

I bought this book for my 13 year old, what a well written funny book. It is written in an informative yet relaxed way that most normal teenagers will understand. Although we have a relaxed approach to answering sex questions there are some things a teenage boy just cant ask his parents, this book filled in the gaps. Buy it !

Whilst generally a reasonable book, there are a considerable number of errors. These include referencing incorrect tables and regulation numbers, and a number of simple typographical errors, e.g. stating that the minimum diameter for the main protective bonding conductor should be 60mm sq, rather than 6. Whilst the more experienced will instantly spot these errors, they could lead to confusion to the novice, who, after all, the book is aimed at. One particular area of concern is in the Inspection and Testing section where, in the process of determining R1+R2, the reader is advised to temporarily link together the line conductor and the CPC. At no point is any emphasis placed on the fact the circuit must be isolated from the supply before this procedure ... Read More:

As a professional programmer I wondered whether this was going to patronise me too much; I needn't have worried, Walkenbach's approach is just right.

He tells it like it is, with plenty of good examples and real world applications for those examples. I'm sure Walkenback doesn't expect this book to teach you everything about Excel and whilst using it I searched for other examples on the 'Net which reinforced what he was teaching me.

But this was the book that provided me with the central learning experience and for which I am eternally grateful. Thanks John!

Lives up to the high standard set by the previous editions & moves on from them. Now in two volumes which means that it is lighter & easier to use. The free extra book is also a very useful resource. I would highly recommend this to any Paramedic students out there.

I was utterly disappointed with this book as I've been a long-time reader of Erica's posts on TUAW.com and have enjoyed her efforts on MacBreakWeekly and her less official iPhone development.

Unfortunately the problem with this book is that she is too experienced to talk to anyone but other experienced developers. With her 'Hello World' app, traditionally the first app you will learn to write in any language, you are told to throw away parts of the folder structure that Apple sets up in XCode, along with some of the pre-written code and use the code she writes with absolutely no real explanation of why. The net effect is to leave you utterly lost, not really knowing what you can and cannot do with the tools you are given.

The second ... Read More:
