Perkins has probably made alot of money from this book as it is written in the first person narrative style of an autobiography, and as such draws the reader in and carries him/her along with the "storyline"
Even if some of the accounts in the book are exaggerated (and I have no reason to say that they are), there is so much personal and historical information in this account of Perkins life, that it could easily have been disproved were it not largely truthfull....to my knowledge, he has not been discredited yet, and so we must assume that it is largely true.
I thought this book was rather brilliant actually, and is ideal for anybody who has misgivings, but has not really ever thought about or faced up to the nature ... Read More:

A classic work incorporating developmental principles from down the ages in a motivational and inspirational style. Many have come after and tried to emulate Napoleon Hill but, for me, his seminal work covering 13 very do-able principles is still the best.

I bought this book alongside some others after searching many reviews on Amazon and trying to decide which would provide me with the most readable and useful information about trading. Well, the other books were good but didn't even come close to being as informative and understandble as this. If you are just starting out in trading (I cannot speak for experienced traders but I imagine they too could learn a lot from this read), then buy this book. It is an in depth guide that starts with the basics. It is well laid out and easy to use. It goes beyond being just an introduction and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to avoid a lot of the mistakes made by inexperienced traders.

24.Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant by: W. Chan Kim, Renée Mauborgne

This book begins with a claim that it will establish yet another framework for setting a winning strategy. The authors then lose themselves in telling several anecdotes most of them where already told, in a better way, in other similar books.

The book fails to meet the expectations it raises in the first pages: no framework, just well-known stories written in a tedious style.

At the very least, after reading Crash Proof, you will view economics in a refreshingly practical, non-conventional way. Mr. Schiff has a gift of breaking down complex financial information into language the common person can understand. Even more importantly, he exposes the smoke and mirror approach that's so prevalent with economists and cable news financial analysts. The view behind the curtain is very disturbing, to say the least.

keep in mind, NO book can provide a magic bullet. No human can predict the future. But this one is as close as it gets.

I really enjoyed this book - especially the chapters on the better known brands like Pizza Express and Cobra Beer. It's really inspiring to find out how these huge businesses started. Inspired me to think more about my dreams to start a business myself. Would agree with the other review though - not all are household names, but the stories are equally as interesting.

I guess the main message of the book is: if you've got an idea, go for it. You never know where it'll lead.

Thought this was a great book. The way it takes you through a week by week step makes it very easy to understand and he gives you some very useful contacts. I reckon with the majority of people who read this they will feel much more comfortable and at ease in starting a business.

In this tome Mr Mandelbrot lambasts the previous century's inadequate financial models but seems unwilling to admit that the field has moved on somewhat, and unable to offer a practical model of his own.

Mr Mandelbrot shows how Bachelierian models fail to account for disastrous market drops which ruined many investors. He rubbishes two conventional assumptions: that each price move is independent of another and that their magnitude follows a Normal distribution. Skillfully constructed charts make plain the reality that a large market move is likely to be followed by another. More charts show just how badly market data fits to a Normal distribution: by this measure dozens of trading days in the 20th century were so unlikely not even one should have occurred ... The book is to vague and talks about too many financial products and does not talk into too much depth about a particular financial product. its good if youre new to the whole idea of investing otherwise if you know what youre looking for and know what products you wish to invest in then try something else. It doesnt tell you how to trade but is good on the fundamentals.
