For me the world of derivatives are a known unknown and after reading the book, it remains like that. Derivatives are complex indeed if you don't have experience or are involve in it, but this book helps to provide an idea about the mechanics of the financials markets. The author guides you in this book telling real stories, some from his own experience, about how derivatives have evolved since its beginnings, covering the whole range of derivatives from futures, options, swaps and credit. Reading the newspaper today, it said that some companies had made some good profits from our country currency valuation against the dollar, thanks to swaps and futures operations --- at least now I have an idea on what they are talking about. I can only describe this particular edition of Wealth of Nations as a useful crash course on Adam Smith's discourse, mindful of the fact that there were five editions of this historically significant work. But then that's the beauty of this condensed compendium. Most editions available in the market draw on Smith's Wealth of Nation Volume I (Of the causes of improvement), Volume II (Of the Nature, Accumulation, and Employment of Stock) and Volume III (Of the different Progress of Opulence in different Nations) at the most. However, this edition contains healthy inclusions from Book IV (Of Systems of political Economy) and Book V (Of the Revenue of the Sovereign or Commonwealth). This book is facinating. If you have any interest in how the education system is, well, not failing our children, but stifiling their creativity through the application of "conventional wisdom" read this. You have to see his fantastic 30 min TED talk on You Tube - simply brilliantly funny and insightful at the same time.

this small book shows in a logical way how speculation can make intelligent people do stupid things.galbraith shows in detail how money can in a practical sense buys up the intelligence of those involved in it.the recent dot.com mania demonstrates galbraiths analysis at work,as people were swept away in the dot.com tide.galbraith is a true prophet,may he live to a hundred.

This book is an inspirational guide about how to be a great coach. Julie has very clearly described how to successfully manage a coaching relationship, but almost more importantly she also shows you how to get a better understanding of yourself so that you can be the best coach for your clients. A fantastic handbook that i'm referring to daily.

I was expecting solid advice on how to manage more effectively, delegate, and coach people. However, what I found was advice that seemed to have been pulled from fortune cookies. Trite, obvious, unhelpful. I have to say that the book is well written - Templar has a lovely, fluid writing style. It is, however, a shame that the book doesn't contain any useable content on how I can actually become a better manager. One to give a miss to.
