I was reading the book on the tube, and this just jumped out at me.

Page 22

'multiply 40 by 130% to see that the P/E ratio could possibly expand to 92'

Actually if you multiply 40 by 130% you get 52

If you increase 40 by 130% you get 92

This book did not deserve any more of my attention so I spent the remainder of my journey looking out of the window!!

Despite this being for "Dummies" it's incredibly detailed and covers just about everything that one needs to start trading with Technical Analysis.

It begins with market basics and I came off reading this with no previous knowledge of technical analysis besides what I had been told by a friend of mine who trades.

It follows through to cover dynamic and momentum indicators in as much detail as you'll need. It doesnt pay to go too into things since indicators INDICATE and do not REVEAL. They give the most likely possibility of what will happen but that's where stop losses come in.

It teaches you early on that money management and long term survival are key. For the price, this is the best technical Analysis ... Read More:

err my fault as I bought the wrong book when I wanted the first volume. I expected to look at the personalities behind the House of Rothschild but you rarely get that and instead I found it to be boring trawling through the numerous financial trades they made at the time. Not really interested in the financial history but characters. Wrong expectation I guess.

This book reads at such a pace that you forget it's all about the world's worst subject: finance. I picked it up with dread, thinking it would deliver horrible and impossible lectures about how to earn and save money. Instead, the writing and advice are totally down-to-earth and (almost always) simple to follow. A brilliant book for New Year resolutions.

The only way to be competitive in the world marketplace is to be much more efficient. In other words "lean and mean." Efficient at engineering, efficient at manufacturing and efficient at meeting/exceeding customer expectations are all keys to becoming more competitive.

This book and their Machine that Changed the World are good resources for manufacturing facilities more lean. And...lean thinking leads to more lean thinking.

Using the Toyota system as a guide, Womack and Jones address how companies can eliminate waste and increase profits. They write:

"Our earnest advice to lean firms today is simple: To hell with your competitors; compete against perfection by identifying all activities that are muda and ... Read More:

I have to say this book is one of a kind, i bought this book thinking what else can be read about PROJECT MANAGEMENT that other writers haven't written. but Richard Newton knows exactly what you really need to know about being a successfull project manager. He gives you scenarios, examples and explains from his own personal life experience.
Now when the book says pay good attention to chapter 2, it's really worth paying attention to, because that chapter is one of the main key of being a successfull project manager.
The best thing about this book, is that it is aimed at everybody who wants to get the best out of being a successfull project manager.

I am about to embark on a new journey that will involve workshops and having my previous experience of running workshops I was very panicky. Would I be able to deliver the workshops? Would I know enough warm ups/ice breakers etc? And loads of other questions zipped through my mind!

Lucky for me I bought this book and once it arrived it took me 2 days to read it through. This is a book I can safely recommend to anyone needing guidance in creating workshops. Never in a million years would I have thought about using playdoh and board games as tools but this book explains why activities shouldn't just be plain powerpoint slides you can safely shake things up without losing the essence of the workshop.

I have heaps of ideas I cannot wait to try. ... Read More:

This gives a very interesting lowdown on how some the world's greatest traders made their fortunes. It's not particularly educational in terms of using the information for your own trading strategy due to many of the traders giving conflicting opinions. For instance, some of the traders are purely fundamental and hate technical analysis, whereas some use just TA and hate fundamental analysis. None of the traders give away any of their secrets, they only talk in very general terms about the sort of techniques they use. I was also disappointed that everyone interviewed all came from a financial background, it would have been more inspirational for new traders if Schwager had interviewed a trader who had no financial background whatsoever and had to learn trading from the ... When I am looking to learn about something and dont want to be blasted by information overload and jargon, I usually look to learn from someone who is an ordinary individual that just had a go and learnt as they went. And this author is one such individual, who learnt from experience, aquaintances and trial and error and general workshops. This book is very accessable from a lay persons perspective written in a friendly and coherent manner. Whats more, she seems to cover everything that is required to day trade including psychological attitude, risk v reward, trends, technical analysis, chartings and any thing else one could require for a good footing in day-trading. Good for the begineer too, but you would have to go slowely to absorb the information..
