Books : Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications: Study Guide (New York Institute of Finance): A ... Study Guide (New York Institute of Finance)
Of all the books on TA that I've bought, and there's been loads, this is by far the most comprehensive and informative. If you're a newbie to TA and don't really know where to start, then this book is a must purchase. It takes you through all the leading technical analysis techniques you'll ever want to learn from Dow theory, to momentum indicators, oscillators, moving averages, candlesticks, very little is left out. It is an extremely extensive guide to TA and the sort of book you can read cover to cover, as well as use as a general reference. If you're a trader, make sure this book is in your trading library.

Reviewing an autobiography is a tough thing to do as you are not reviewing a story as much as someone's life.

So let me get the point about why this is not 5 stars for me. What makes Chris Gardner's story so inspirational was his ability to look after a son and get a job in a top financial firm whilst homeless. He went from homeless to millionaire in the face of a few years- the ultimate rags to riches story. This is what the film is about and this is why he tours doing speeches etc. So to have this part of his life as the last third of the book (only about 100 pages) means that you have to feel a bit cheated.

Yes his upbringing was tough and interesting but in most autobiographies the "me growing up" bit is the first ... Read More:

Previously, I read and reviewed Tom Butler-Bowdon's 50 Self-Help Classics and 50 Success Classics and was not surprised to find that his most recently published volume in the "50 Classics" series is their equal in terms of the quality and value of the material provided. Butler-Bowdon employs essentially the same format for the three volumes: brief background on each source, major insights, final comments, and mini-bio of author. The "great thinkers" he discusses in 50 Psychology Classics are also organized in alphabetical order, although I would have preferred (one man's opinion) that they had been organized within discrete thematic clusters, and not in alphabetical order but in terms of sequence of influence. Sigmund Freud followed by Carl Jung ... Read More:

I've written this review with one star because I always go straight to the low ratings when I read reviews and often don't trust products that have no lower scores amongst the reviews.

This book is really good. No psycho bable and no new age rubbish. This is actually one of the most insightful books I have ever read full stop. It's applications go way beyond commercial sales and the material is packed.
I started off by underlining what I thought was important and insightful but I found myself underlining almost every line I read. I'm very impressed and I give it 5 stars. This book is of university standard and I wish we had done it as part of my business degree. It is a lot more interesting, insightful, intelligent and useful than much of the ... Read More:

Having had several failed and partially successful business ideas in the past I decided I needed to get an education in how to bring my ideas to fruition, so I enrolled at London Business School.

This book is one of the required reads for "Starting a New Business" (One of the entrepreneurial modules) and for good reason. In a very succinct manner John Mullins combines Strategy, Economics, Accounting and Leadership into a model that makes assessing a new idea extremely simple. To this he adds loads of real world examples which enhance and explain the theory.

I only wish I had a book like this 10 years ago, as it would have saved me a lot of time working on concepts that were fundamentally flawed from the beginning.

What can one say about a Tax Guide? If you know your way around taxes this won't help you much, but there are a few gems in there for those who are only partially aware of the Tax laws.

I'd say if you've never read one of these then you really ought to do so. The cost is little and the time it takes will be less than you expect. All you need to do is find one thing that you can use and it will have paid for itself many times over and you can bore all your friends with your new-found knowledge of tax avoidance (avoidance is ok, evasion is not!). Even if you don't find anything to increase your wealth you will know this for sure and will probably sleep better knowing the taxman is taking only what is due.

This is the first tax guide I have ... Read More:

Heppell's latest book is an accessible and practical guide to enhancing customer service. What I especially liked about this book was the practical low/no cost ways to improve customer service. A useful reminder to all of us who work in the field that providing good customer service doesn't have to cost the earth.
