I found this an excellent source of information on anger and how to deal with it. As a trainee counsellor who is already working with clients I have used it as a framework for discussing anger problems and found the advice on how to re-appraise our habitual reactions to anger "triggers" was especially useful. I also liked the "leaky bucket" analogy, i.e. that if we don't keep topping up the bucket, the anger drains away. I would recommend the book to counsellors and self-helpers as it is very easy to read and follow. I do think the CBT approach is valuable for learning to manage what I would call "everyday" anger, but I think that there are people with "deep-seated" anger relating to wounds from their past who would need a different approach. ... Torey Hayden receives another child for her already full "Crazies" class. Children in her class are those which can't be placed elsewhere. Sheila comes from the migrant camp, she'd been abandonned by mother by the side of a highway. Torey works hard to reach into the troubled six year old, gain her trust and educate her. A difficult journey for both teacher and child but one that would leave all but the hardest of hearts unmoved.

Maybe it was me. Maybe working in Mental Health Care with people diagnosed with inconsistent and inaccurate labels distances me from much of what Richard Bentall writes here. The first part of this book was inspiring and informative. Then Bentall (the self confessed academic who lives in his ivory tower completely lost my interest. He became enmeshed in statistics and counter claims which have established medicine as the police force of mental illness. The first half is excellent, the second half is of use to academics only. It's a shame really. There are other more inspiring reads for the working mental health professional. Try Gamble and Brennan instead.

brilliant! definitely worth a purchase as it gives you many tips and the examples are amazingly helpful! only problem as with the numerical reasoning book, even though this says its aimed at graduate tests, some of the ones i have been completing have been a lot harder :S definitely worth the practice though.

If you are doing an NVQ3, this book is a must. It explains each topic clearly and is easy to follow. This has been one of the most useful textbooks I have ever purchased!

I have gone through a few titles on psychometric tests. I am convinced that this is one of the best books on this subject. It is very comprehensive yet, just manageable to read through. In just one book, it includes all types of psychometric tests including numerical & verbal reasoning, critical reasoning, situational reasoning and personality questions. The book is better written with just one or two minor errors, but gives very useful tips and plenty of practice tests. One small criticism is that it covers only 4 scenario based practice tests, which I think is insufficient. I still think this is just perfect for someone who is looking for a MBA level management job.

Anger has been a problem in my life for many years, dating back to my school days in the East-end. I vividly recall being first escorted to the headmaster's study by a sobbing teacher, after a particularly profane outburst in class. Equally vivid is the memory of being escorted to the police station by a sobbing headmaster, which I believe happened shortly afterward. Perhaps the most vivid of all is the memory of being escorted before the Judge by a sobbing policeman.
