I have just returned from a tour of southern Ireland and I used this atlas with no problems at all. It has a full page map of Ireland inside the front cover and then four pages to show more detailed areas before the pages detailing final 3.2 inches to the mile maps. On the inside of the rear cover are distances between major towns in both kilometres and miles and a full index of town. Local attractions are marked and described and there are street plans of a number of the major towns and cities.
Great value!

This is a BIG fold-down map - ain't it always the way, all the 'key' places/roads/etc., are on the folds!

Seriously, the BIG format is un-useful if you're driving long distance. It's a PAIN to keep stopping and re-folding - buy a book.

This is a 'must have' map. Just home from 4 fab nights in the Big Apple and this map was great for getting around. It's coated in plastic so is invaluble in the rain, or in coffee shops when your other half knocks his cup over - thank goodness for free refills !!! Useful list of streets on the back. A definate 5 star item !

I love this book. Once you start flicking through you can't put it down. Full of all sorts of fascinating things you always wanted to know, and very funny too. Plus some serious stuff about environmental threats we all face, and some great photos!
Thank you - just the perfect prezzy for all those rellies I usually end up scratching my head over!

I really recommend this book as a must if you want to do any serious walking in Chile. The book lists all the essentials to bring and what to expect, even where to get camping gas. The walks are selected in order of difficulty and days, with photos of what you will see on the way and where camping and huts are located. I managed to walk round chile for 2 months without the aid of any expensive group travel and with little Spanish, just armed with my LP. The walks selected, especially the torres del paine are spectacular, its a definite must for the would be walker!!!

This is not a self sufficient guide, but if you combine it with the Nepal Lonely Planet and some good maps it is really helpful. Why go through all this trouble, you might ask, and not get something more comprehensive. First because most travellers (I make a bold assumption) are used to the Lonely Planet style and second because being of a smallish size it is the perfect guide to keep in your pocket while you walk and check as you go along what you covered against the trek dexcription found inside.
