I bought this book in 1988 when I had just arrived at RAF Scampton as a pilot officer. The book was bought on a Saturday and I read it that night. The mess was rather empty and with the wind blowing and windows rattling, it was a somewhat sleepless night. I still think the first book is outstanding, the second was good but then as previous reviewer stated, I think the books went downhill. Its a shame as I bought them all on the offchance that they might improve again and also that I met Mr Halfpenny in Lincoln purely by chance. On a number of occassions I ventured to many of the old airfields at night and despite a couple of strange experiences, nothing major to report. As I said, great first book, remainder ruined by the author's politics.

What is presented here is a commercial venture by OZ and his 'Grey Council' to cash in on the 'Harry Potter' phenomenon by reprinting material from the works of people such as Ellen Evert Hopman, Raymond Buckland, Raven Grimassi, Patricia Telesco and other well known authors. What results is a mish mash of information on different levels of understanding that looks comically like a Hogwarts Wannabe volume of collected wisdom and falls far short.

What could have been a stroke of genius becomes laughingly a flop in its intent to copy a popular fictional wave and use it to promote what could have been a really good source of collected information.

Not to be overlooked are some really good tables of correspondences, some very complete ... Read More:

Side-splittingly funny, I keep it on my desk and open the book at random every morning to start the day with a bit of hilarity.

My personal favourite: Kumquat Mae, the vegetarian restaurant!

I bought this as my first book into herbalism, and it was the best money i have spent this year. It is sooo detailed starting with items you may need and what they do when working with herbs, herbal listings and some pictures, discriptions with effects and best for. i think if you are to buy a book on herbalism this should definately be the one!

Blessed be

Books : First Steps to Solitary Witchcraft: Its Practice and Life Benefits
I read this book a while ago when I was still practicing Wicca thus my opinion on this book is slightly different now than what it was at the time. This book from Marie Bruce is pretty fun and I certainly came away from it feeling rather empowered. I've never been particularly enthused about incorporating feminism into Witchcraft but this book did change my mind a little, and has caused me to look at feminism and womens mysteries in another light. For anyone wishing to read about Wicca I would recommend this book but with some caution! Marie Bruce whilst seemingly very knowledgeable about the craft, does not appear to be aware of historical fact. Being a student of history I find it highly exasperating when I see bad figures and erroneous facts about deities being ... Read More:
