This is not a bad book, it is very comprehensive and well written, so it is fun to read and contains useful information. It seems intended to be read through more than as a reference book.
However, in my opinion it is a bit too much. The information overloads the reader and then it is difficcult to remember the key things a new mom has to have in mind.It would suit you if you have a control freak side and want to know absolutelly everything about -1 yr old babies. It won't suit you if you are an aprehensive person.

I really liked the look of this book and I had already used the Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner by Annabel Karmel, so I bought this expecting it to build on the older edition and have something new to offer for the eary stages of weaning.

Sadly, I dont think it met expectations. Lots of the recipes were duplicated from the other book and the information in the introductions to each chapter also seemed like an abridged version of the other book.

I appreciate there are only so many vegetable and fruit purees that you can use to wean your baby but I would still have expected this book to have more to offer that its older counterpart.

My advice would be don't bother with it if you have the other one, ... Read More:

Boring, over rated book.

I, like many others, was handed this book and told that it was a life changing read. It was an utter load of rubbish.

I think the people who recommend this book are suffering with a bad case of the Emperors New Clothes.

This book is absolutely brilliant. James' life and story is an inspiration for anyone who wishes to be successful in business and life. Its a very inspiring read that left me charged up at the end! Whoever reads this should also read Duncan Bannantyne's book.

How to talk to anyone is written in a straight forward way, giving you tips on how to carry good conversations. It highlights things that, when you think about it, is very very true, especially when you think of people you DONT like speaking with, but dont really see why not.

nice short chapters that lets you pick up a few things every time you pick up the book.

This was the first Martina Cole book I have read, and it will be the last....What can I say, the characters were so two dimensional they couldn't have been ironed any flatter. But it wasn't just the characters that lacked definition and texture; there was a complete absence of plot - the story ran in a straight line from start to finish with no twist , turns or revelations; infact just by reading just the 18 page opening prologue you basically got the gist of the whole 500 page novel. I wish I'd done that whilst waiting in Tescos to buy it in the first place! It would have been a mercy. The thoughts and action of the main players were repeated endlessly - it was literal dioareha. I've lost count of how many times Martina told me that Danny was a 'looney tune' ... Read More:

I love this book. If you only ever buy one "parenting" book, make it this one! It is written with warmth and humour and the author's obvious love and respect for children shines through.
He is not concerned with "managing the child's behaviour" but rather with developing the psychological skills she needs to successfully manage her own life......and to this end, provides us with the ways in which we can assist in this process.
He is also not concerned with "guilt tripping" parents for any shortcomings in their parenting skills....what a relief!
This is a very clear and easy to read book and if it were compulsory reading for all parents, would be parents and teachers, our future generation would be in very safe hands! I highly recommend it.

This book is beautifully written. The words are chosen with care and this is consistent with the fact that the narrator - although had a privileged anglophile upbringing - is not English mother-tongue. However there are some annoying - if not disturbing - profiles. The narrator (or the author?) although proclaims his annoyance by American people's superiority complex, seems sometimes affected by the same problem: a badly concealed superiority complex towards Western people's supposed grossness...Although annoying, this is a beautifully written book, and the pace is fast....I recommend it

I got one on sale last year & was a bit sceptical of the format, but have come to rely on it. With my son now in school and daughter interested in trying dance classes, it's great to keep track of every little thing that my tired brain (also have 4 mo. old) needs to keep track of. The spaces are more horizontal than vertical so have more room to write what's needed. I have a different colored marker for each of us & used the extra column for general info. or festivals or other activities we might want to do. Athough I would be picky about having a tradition format calendar that starts on Sunday, and never got the hang of those kind that have the days on the left, this one is easy to adapt to, and helps show the children how far away something is since it's linear. Weekends ... Read More:

This is the first Steinbeck book I have read.
I look forward to reading many more.
A simple and touching study of loneliness and all it entails.
