There are at least three analogies relevant to the philosophy of science at the beginning of the book which Dr. Lennox has been using in talks for years. I know, because I was at one of them in Oxford in 2003. On that day he had been given half an hour to burn through all his material, so he spoke at breakneck speed and barely had time to catch breath. There's something of that vibe about this book, too. Over these 179 pages of fine print, Lennox seems to have been determined to cover as much ground as possible, which makes for either an exhilarating or an infuriating read, depending on the disposition of the reader. This is another amazing book by Lewis, and another that I have read multiple times. I have had to read it for at least three university courses over the last 18 years. This book is unlike anything else that Lewis ever wrote. It is raw, visceral and at times disturbing, unlike most of his other work that is very precise, specific, well argued and clearly laid out. Recently I heard this story: `Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis's stepson recently released a book about Lewis called Jack's Life. It includes a DVD interview, where Gresham states that Lewis did not intend to publish A Grief Observed; it was a personal notebook. If your aim is to understand auras and the application of that knowledge, the book has quite a lot of background and data, all in a credible, clear scientific way. It doesn't quite offer as quick a HOWTO to reading an aura as "Auras: See Them In Only 60 Seconds!" by Mark Smith, so maybe get both if you're just venturing into this. One of the strongest recommendations for this book was that I was given its title by someone in Bangkok who is apparently Thailands' best (known) aura reader - and it was quite a life changing experience..

I found this book on Amazon while browsing the Listmania. After reading such complimentary reviews, I decided to take a chance on it. I was not disappointed. The story is set in the 1850s during the Californian Gold Rush. Michael Hosea is a farmer who falls in love with a prostitute called Angel. Michael lives a simple life and is a God-fearing man. When he meets Angel, her life has just fallen to new depths. The book is a retelling of the prophet Hosea from the Bible. However, even if you are not religious don't let this put you off. If you like romance, you will love it. It is exquisitely written and the story beautiful. It is not only a story of redeeming love, but unconditional love too.
