After many tests, painful physio, and painkillers that didn't work my Doctor was advising tests for secondary bone cancer. After following the instructions in this book, the excruciating pain in my spine, which had increased to the point where I was housebound and miserable, vanished in minutes! My Doctor concurred that given my circumstances it was conceivable that the pain had psychological origins and admitted that the tests for bone cancer she was advising were a 'shot in the dark' given that all else had failed to pinpoint a cause. As I continue the mental exercises the muscle pain is diminishing daily and I can contemplate a return to work soon. The Doctor is following my case with interest, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. ... Read More:

This is the fourth 'Abraham' book I have read, having started with 'Ask and It Is Given', and been helped very much by it. The 'Abraham' teachings present a message which is essentially very simple, but so far-reaching that it is helpful to have several books devoted to it. Our thoughts produce a particular vibration, depending on their emotional content; this vibration attracts similar thoughts, which eventually become a physical manifestation. By being aware of how our thoughts FEEL, we will know whether the manifestation which will follow from them will be what we desire, or what we do NOT desire. Armed with this awareness, we can control our life experience, by a simple process of reaching for a thought that feels better. Better feeling ... Read More:

This book has changed my life along with Eckhart's other publications.

I was very skeptical at first, as I considered myself to be non religious and not spiritual and didn't think I could relate to this sort of stuff.

My initial 'though' could not have been more wrong. I hardly ever read books but could not put this one down. I read it at a time when I had recently moved to the other side of the world, then within a few days, I was let down badly by my girlfriend, resulting in a breakup and quit a new job in which I felt was not for me. Prior to this I suffered from ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after an undiagnosed spinal cord injury.

After my resent disappointment I felt extremely lonely, depressed and a failure. ... Read More:

This book is both factual and easy to read. It does not claim to deal with every aspect of Buddhism, which is a complex and fragmented belief system. What I particularly liked was Keown's references to this incompleteness within the text, and his suggestions for further readings and clear labelling of the things he has either left out or skimmed over.
This is an incredibly useful book. The breakdown of information in text boxes and clearly divided chapters with useful sub-headings made it even easier to read.
It is useful in that it gives both a history of Buddhism and its influence across the world as well as the central tenets of the beliefs it encompasses. It also tries to understand the impact of Buddhism on modern Western culture, positing ideas ... Read More:

Mihály, the central character of this elegant and stylish novel (beautifully translated by Len Rix) seems to belong to the early continental 19th century rather than to inter-war Budapest. He is a man in his late thirties, a neurotic and Romantic character, unworldly, more at home in history than in the present, ill at ease in his bourgeois setting at home and equally ill at ease about being in his late thirties. He has a great nostalgia for the time when, as an adolescent schoolboy, he was the hanger-on of a group of unconventional young people: Tamás (who several times tried to commit suicide and eventually managed it); his sister Eva (whom Mihály adored); Ervin (another of Eva's admirers, a convert to Catholicism from Judaism); and János, a suave trickster.

This has been gathering dust on my shelf for a few years now, and I've only just got round to reading it. The five books of 1st Enoch range from the utterly fascinating to sure-fire cures for insomnia.

Written between the old and new testaments, it gives a fascinating insight into what some Jewish groups believed at that time (for example, several editions of Enoch were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.)

Anyone with an interest in the New Testament could learn a lot by reading Enoch. Attitudes of people in the gospels have clearly been coloured by the content and even vocabulary of Enoch. And, of course, it's even quoted in Jude and 2 Peter. Parts of it are so startlingly similar to the book of Revelation that it must surely have provided a visual vocabulary ... Read More:

The book of this truly inspirational poem is split into 11 sections. Each section discusses an aspect of the poem whether that's fear, joy, failure, betrayal etc. Of all the chapters its the one about betrayal that I come back to and discuss with others most.

The hardest thing sometimes seems to be about doing what is right for me especially when it involves betraying another. In the past, when I made the commitment or promise,I truly did mean it. Now that promise is the one thing holding me back and is providing me with pain. The promise is no longer true for me.

This part of the book, for me anyway, encourages me to listen to the little voice inside and to take action which is right for me.

I highly recommend this book! It has given me not just an understanding on the subject. But also gave a better understanding of myself. This book has created a positive energy to my life.

I am really grateful for all the work David Wells has put into it, a job well done.

Thank you!

There are those who seek and enjoy seeking - and there are those who are so locked into this manifested world they couldn't seek their elbow...

There is nothing wrong with this book that common sense will not allow you to edit whilst reading. All you need to recognise is that you are seeking - read, devour and move on - until something resonates with your soul and turns you on to something you wouldn't have found if you hadn't been a seeker. When you read 'your' truth it will fill you with a feeling of love - just like recognising an old friend. Hard work and keeping your nose down whilst living the life circumstance has dealt is not for all of us...there is much, much more, but likewise don't forget to live the life you have whilst you seek the life you desire :-)

Tim
