Just get it. It'll cost you a penny second hand, and it's well worth it. I mean just look at the fact there are 38 reviews to it's name! But beware, he's going to talk about God. That's right, a psychotherapist talking about God. He only does so however in the last section and by then you've got enough benefit from it to throw it away with a smile and no resentment, no matter how hardened an atheist you are.

After watching Randy's lecture called "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" on YouTube I was blown away by his honesty, clarity and forthrightness in conveying life lessons he has discovered. And soon after I ordered this book which is the written version of that humorous and inspiring lecture. One of the ideas in his book is what Randy calls "head fake" where you learn an important lesson in an indirect way. Speaking as a former Christian (and now an ardent secularist), I can say without hesitation that this book should be read by EVERY person who considers themself to be a Christian. I have bought more copies of this book than any other as I regularly give copies to friends and family members, as I am that confident that their lives would be bettered by considering the issues it raises. A copy of this book should reside in every hotel room across the Western world.

Really, I dont undertstand how anyone could have given this book 5 stars...it doesnt even deserve 1 star! There's nothing insightful about it and even an idiot doesn't need to be told 'the four agreements' to know them. A 3 yr old could have written a better book on the subject. Pls dont waste your money in buying this book...anyone want my copy?

Somehow I identified with all of the life-traps and so therapy beckons? The more I read the more any optimism I'd held began to evapourate. Hopefully though anyone who wishes to adopt the steps to change their lives has fewer schemas than I, even with one life-trap it would take grinding hard work to escape from it. However, nothing worthwhile came easy, so keep expectations low and success will come your way. An interesting view into our behaviours and their origins.

This book opened by eyes to the damage forced religion can do Carolyn had a lot of courage to escape from the clutchs of this extreme brand of Mormanism. I think Carolyns book will help people understand what dangers are out their for women and children in these types of communites. I think the book is a heartfelt read though I would have liked to know if Carolyn kept up some parts of her religion in the less restictive Salt Lake City. This book is a must for anyone who belives in religious freedoms I am glad Carolyn got a lot of help and support when she started her new life.

I have to admit that I am a bit of a fan of Pema Chodron, having heard her audiobooks "How to Meditate", "Pure Meditation" and "True Happiness". I like her down-to-earth, yet wise and compassionate style. This is the first book I have read of Pema's and it is beautiful. It took me a while to get into it, and I enjoyed the last 7 chapters the most especially the "Sending & Taking" chapter on Tonglen practice, the chapter called "Not preferring Samsara to Nirvana" which spoke a little about ego involvement, and finally the chapter "Sticking to One Boat" which has inspired me to buy Trungpa's "Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism". 10 years before coming across Pema's beautiful teachings I got involved with A.Cohen's ego-inflated,neurotic nonsense and it seriously ... Wow! I'd like to say unbelieveable, except I do believe! These cards are so fabulous and absolutely accurate. What a bonus that they are beautiful and a pleasure to own and use.
