The previous reviewer seems to be referring to another CD by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This CD set has 4 CD's, Bodyscan Meditation, Mindful Yoga, Sitting Meditation and Mindful Yoga 2. This CD forms the basis of the 8 week Mindfulness course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn and adapted by Mark Williams and others to run in the UK. The Bodyscan and the Sitting Meditation are the ones I use the most so far they form the bedrock for Mindfulness as put forward by Jon Kabat Zinn. I use them regularly and learn something about myself and Mindfulness every time I listen to the CD's. This is a book of fortune cookie style utterances. It'll teach you little about Buddhism and is more of a novelty item. It's small though so it would actually fit inside a large fortune cookie!

The Prophet is about a mysterious religious thinker who is about to leave for his native land. Before he goes, many people have just one question to ask him. In a very few words, he tells them his accumulated wisdom primarily in a nondenominational way. The only exceptions come in the references to rebirth. This is certainly a good introduction to reading and studying the Bible. It is not the sort of book you would read from cover to cover in one go; but rather a book that you would delve into as and when you need to some guidance on a particular genre of literature. When this book was originally publish it was quite dry, but the latest edition has been made more readable. The recommended commentary list in the back of the book is not the best. For better help on choosing commentaries see my other reviews. In the original book there was a definite bias towards the NIV as the best translation. Truly the worst holocaust testimony ever written.So many mistakes throughout the whole text.Two examples of which were when Mr Muller mentions the camp orchestra in Birkenau,there was none.He also quotes that Kramer was in Birkenau and had came from Auschwitz 2.Both are one and the same place But important errors like these were repeated in every chapter and the worry for me is that Holocaust deniers may pick up on these simple blunders.Mr Mullers over use of adjectives and repetition of statements at times resulted in the book bordering on being boring.It read more like a students written essay who wasnt fully informed ,rather than an actual Holocaust survivors memoirs.Ive read many more imformative Holocaust testimonies and even Mr Muller must have been disappointed ... This is not a bad book at all, and it is written (on the whole) in an accessable style. It stands out from other similar books by attempting to clarrify what the author considers to be the real issues. It also scores by just focussing on one aspect of the theism/atheism/agnosticism debate, and obviously this is the aspect about which the author is most informed. There was also some discussion of the philosophy of science, which is all too often omitted or taken for granted. However, one of things that occurred to me, whilst reading this book, is that rarely do we get any discussion of the more fundamental point of what constitutes evidence. When I read this book I really tried to stay objective, but the sky-fairies kept whispering in my ear and telling me to do things. Utterly delusional as one might expect.

I'm no Buddhist and don't claim to understand Buddhism to any degree, but despite the title I'm going to suggest that's not the core message of the book. The core message is about seeing what's really there, being open and receptive to reality as it is, not as we imagine or desire it to be. The fantasy we live in and the pain we cause ourselves because of it. This is one of two books that I would say changed my life. After reading it the message and insights affected my mindset and outlook so much it remained with me for more than a year before diminishing. this book is very well written and easy to understand, with terminology that is plain. an enlightening and wonderful expression of how to be with others. i did not want to put the book down once i began to read. a book that i will refer to in time to come.

I whole heartedly agree with the previous reviewers..this book too has profoundly changed my life ! I have read quite a few self help books but Katie I have found is the only one so far that puts things in a real simple and down to earth manner. Not some airy fairy spiritual thing...the only way really for people to gain clarity over their seemingly negative ways is to discover the truth for themselves and this she does so brilliantly. I found The Power Of Now life transforming, this goes even beyond that..for those who still don't quite "get it" with the likes of Tolle, Dwyer, Virtue and so many others, including Law of Attraction books, they should definately give this book a go.
