In Diggers, the nomes living in a quarry found themselves besieged by humans. In the end, Masklin rescued them with nothing short of a miracle. This book is the story of that miracle.

This book is so funny that I often found myself laughing out loud while reading it. Not only that, the action is gripping, and the ending is touching. This book is a wonderful buy.

The idea of translating popular books into Latin is excellent, and this version is on the whole fluent and accurate. Or if it isn't, I am probably not equipped to challenge a senior Eton Latin master.

That said, the rendering does seem a little wooden and literal. All those plonking "dominus" (for Mr) and "Visli" (for Weasley) could be avoided by a more imaginative transposition into a Latin-speaking world: I'm told the Greek version fares rather better in this respect. One is occasionally reminded of the painful Latin dialogue in the film "Sebastiane", in which someone uses "excrementum" as a swear word. Worst, perhaps, is the point where Hagrid reveals "Harrie: tu es magus". That means "Harry; YOU (not someone else) are a ... Read More:

We have learnt to buy two copies of Ali's books in this household but as my husband stole my copy I had to arm wrestle my son to read his copy first. He won, but it was well worth the wait. A really exciting read and everything so neatly tied up at the end, even the sad bits ... wish there was another one coming but can't wait to see Electosaur and Stinkomite on the shelves.

I really recommend this book. it is the second book in the unbeliveably fantastic Bromeliad trilogy. This book is probably suitable for readers aged 9 upwards, but adults will enjoy it too. The hero of this book Masklin (who is only 4 inches high)departs on a quest at the begining of the book with 2 other nomes. (Angalo and Gurder). Do not be confused if you cannot understand the ending of this book because by reading the 3rd, it will completely make sense of the ending.
This second book is about the nomes trying to find a new life in a quarry after fleeing in the fist book from a Department store where they had lived under the floor boards. They are aliens from an advanced Planet but they don't know it.
In the quarry life is hard ... Read More:

Like all the other reviewers here I would strongly recommend this book for any young children and their parents. Beautifully illustrated and written; my 5.5year-old has loved every moment and cherished every story. Some nights we can't stop and read three stories on the trot. Great challenge for the reader to pronounce the wonderful Greek names too! The chronological order provides a feel for how the myths start off as a story about creation. And the whole book gives an extensive modern account of the wonders of human nature - whether god-like, good, moral, or down-right ugly. We'll be sad when we finish this one.

Tim the Tiny Horse is a genius book from Harry Hill. Everyone could learn a thing or two from Tim's attitude to life. My sister bought this for my 5 year old niece whose only critism would be that it really is OK to eat a grape that you found on the supermarket floor without paying for it. So don't feel guilty about it, because they can't sell it anyway. Young and old can learn a lot about 'human nature' from 'tiny horse nature'. Buy it if you want to improve your life in any way at all.
