See what happens when three children, Jo, and his two sisters, Bessie and Fannie, discover their very own Enchanted Wood, and meet new friends Silky the Fairy, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man who all live in the magical Faraway Tree. Their real adventures begin when they all climb up and discover the most thrilling and peculiar! Lands that exist beyond the clouds at the top of the tree which some are good and some rather confusing and some plain dreadful. I like most of the Lands and characters like the angry pixie, Mr Watizname and Dame Washalot.
The characters are funny and some of the lands are very exciting like the land of snow and ice where there are evil snowman and even Santa Claus.

Keep it simple, keep it fast and keep it jokey: Perfect entertainment for the mid-teens (and older).

I've enjoyed all the Artemis Fowl novels to date - and this latest, Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony, is no exception.

For those not in the know, Artemis is a teenage genius with a penchant for crime, and a big - very BIG - minder called Butler. He's been annoying the hell out of the fairy kingdom for years, although, having saved each other from disaster more than once, they have the sort of a love-hate relationship neither side would admit to: Holly, ex-LEPrecon (the fairy police), is his principle contact and Foley (the centaur) the technical wizardry supplier - oh, and there is a singularly repulsive character called ... The Doctor Who Storybook from Panini Books is good value for money. There are seven text stories and one comic strip, all illustrated in full colour by different artists. With stories written from some of the television series writers, the Doctor and Donna have been captured perfectly and it is easy to imagine the characters enacting the parts described in the text. This book comes highly recommended and is a suitable companion to the Doctor Who AnnualThe Official "Doctor Who" Annual ("Doctor Who").

This is a very, very, good book. I liked the fact that is written in 'chapters' instead of a picture book. I read most of it myself but mummy read some of it to me as well. My favourite story was 'Whizz-bang Winnie' when she and Wilbur win the race. Mummy's favourite was 'Hot Cross Winnie' because she liked it when the little girls took Wilbur and put hair clips in his fur. I am going to read 'Mini Winnie' next. Tom, age 6.

King of Sword and Sky continues straight after the previous book and what an engaging read it is. If you liked the previous two books in the series this story will not disappoint.

Ellie is still learning the arts of magic and trying to come to grips with the vast power that she has inherited. The shock of losing her mother and leaving her father and sisters in Telon are weighing heavily on her shoulders. After travelling from Celieria city to the outskirts of the Fading Lands Ellie and Rain's first trial is to go through the faering mists. Which proves to be just as hard as they both thought it would be. There she'tanista bond is still not complete and the Eld, in secret are mustering there troups for an invasion. I'm a big fan of Richard Morgan's work. He has put out tremendous stories -- this isn't one of them. Most of what he wrote appeared to be an attempt to break from the nomral fantasy genre and put some shock value. However, along the way, he missed the fact that you need a strong story and I never really cared for any of the main characters. If you haven't purchase this yet, you should consider it based on the strength of his past success -- you might like it, I didn't. I'll wait until he goes back to the SciFi.

After this i'de likely say yes, eventually. It has taken me AGES to read this monster of a book but you lose nothing from doing it like me mainly because after you finish one of the very long character based chapters, theres at least another 3 before u'll see them again, meaning theres no momentum.

Call me old fashioned as well but i like a good magic base in a book, as far as im aware, i havn't seen any evidence that magic will be explored in this series.

A decent hero getting through a few tough spots would be nice as well, after looking into the next few books in this series, it becomes pretty obvious that Mr Martin has a bit of an obsession with killing off his main characters, saying no names ofc.

Undeniably excellent writing by a gifted author ... Read More:

I have just finished this latest instalment of The Wardstone Chronicles, and I like some others rate this as the best so far, even though I did kind of guess what was going to happen/be explained, and let me admit I don't feel at all guilty about reading 'kids' books - and I'm 36, (might feel abit guilty about ignoring the family while reading though).
I stumbled upon the series late last year and eagerly read one after the other, now I'm in the position I was in a few years ago when I had to wait for the next Potter book.

Ignore the cover of this book. It is a truly terrible cover; a horribly old fashioned, space ships in flight painting and pseudo-B-movie, shiny typeface effort that makes this book feel like an Alan Dean foster effort from the mid-1980's. You should ignore it because it is not worthy of the book behind it.

I picked up Old Man's War on a whim because I like the sound of the precis on the back. It struck me as an original concept, sending retirees off in the universe to be rejuvenated and fight for humanity, and I wanted to know where the author would go with it.

Where he takes it is not at all what I expected, even though I had no real preconceptions going in. Not only does he craft a hugely exciting story from his central idea, he also manages to imbue it with sly humour, a dash ... Read More:
