The change to colour is a vast improvement but it has some pretty big failings. The information is relatively comprehensive but is spread out over several chapters and sub chapters. This means that you have to hunt for the rest of the information across several sub chapters and sections that would naturally be grouped together. Makes it great fun for lecturers as you literally do have to read every single sentence, and many chapters, to make sure you don't miss anything. The structure of the information is also strangely set out so it's difficult to pull out what you need simply. If we didn't use this as a text on our course we'd suggest better options like Grays anatomy for students, Tortola and a few others.

This book was recommended reading on my course. It was suggested along with a number of other personality books, but is far the better book. The number of topics covered by this book outnumber the other texts, and the level of detail is much greater. I agree with the other reviewer that this text gives the students loads of essay material. The book covers all the major personality theories, and provides a good critique of each one. The book also covers all the intelligence areas needed. Finally the book covers some more 'current' areas such as optimism, embarassment, social relationships. The book covers in depth all the other areas of the BPS accreditation exam and therefore should be useful on many psychology degrees. Most ... Read More:

I bought this book in January 2007 for my MChem course at a much higher price (£59.99) from a well known University bookshop. Although I paid way too much for it I have to say it's the best investment I ever made as I found it to be very useful throughout the duration of my Masters. The book starts off in a very basic to almost A Level standard manner. The reader does not have to have any prior understanding of organic chemistry as the book begins with a section on "What is organic chemistry" and then leads onto organic structures and how to determine structures using different spectroscopic instruments. I bought this book in my first year of nursing,and i am currently in my third year and it still comes in incredibly handy!!! Its basic layman's terms and bright images, make the most complicated anatomy subjects plain, simple and easy to remember! It takes every part of the body and brakes it down! Its great for interest and for learning! If you just want to make a quick reference to something it comes in great!! I urge all nursing students to pick one up, as it contains simple explanations to the questions you may feel embarrased to ask!!! Dont waste your money on books you'll never use again, spend it wisely and for £9.99, its a BARGAIN!!! BRILLIANT!

The latest edition of this best-selling textbook has undergone considerable revision. The previous edition I borrowed from the library differed from this one in both appearance and content, but on inspection I find the later one much better. It is not a cheap purchase, but for anyone serious about research in education, sociology or any of the humanities it is a must-have volume and an invaluable source of references for academic papers, theses or even coursework essays and assignments for students.

As an A Level psychology student using both the AS and A2 versions, i feel that i am eligible to comment. There are so many other text books out there that would better equip studets with the knowledge needed to pass exams. Fair enough, the descriptions of subtopics are thorough. However, the commentary (evaluation) boxes, rather pretentiously, go all around the houses, and do not explain evaluative points concisively. The layout of the book is poor, and the use of a KEY to have to work out which sections are explaining what just makes the book altogether confusing. This review has been written after having to copy out of the book for a day's lesson - so i know that my notes are definately not sufficient enough to revise for a single topic for my exam. This is of corse the basis for modern evolutionary works ,that being so it's not quite acurate to todays knowlege so this book is more of a historical book.This particular book is of good quality and structure with detailed image of the different species used as examples.
