Cameron Colley, journalist at a prominent Scottish newspaper, enjoys his drugs, his drink and his kinky affair with his friend's wife. Addicted to computer games and dreaming of wealth, he becomes prime suspect following a series of violent murders and has to try to prove his innocence.
Complicity is the closest that Banks has come to writing a 'conventional' thriller and is a taut and brutal novel. Some of the scenes of torture and sexual violence are uncomfortable reading, yet the novel sparkles with Banks's verbal style, energy, colourful characterisation and beautifully described locations and his fascination with technology and computer games.
The result is a highly original and hugely impressive novel which you can't put down, ... Read More:

A wonderful history of a sadly overlooked part of English/Scottish history.

Fascinating, gripping, bloody and violent - a truly fabulous account of the Reivers and their culture.

GMF writes in a great style which keeps you gripped and entertained from the first page to the last.

This book is perfect for anyone with the slightest interest is English/Scottish history - but to be honest, it's such a cracking read I can't think of anyone who wouldnt enjoy it.

Good read, lots of interesting facts and pictures. A must for any Rangers fan.

First 2 reviews have been sensible, just wait until our 'friendly neighbours' across the city start to leave reviews. It will be obvious and I would advise anybody looking to buy this book to ignore the childish comments.

I read other reviews which said that this book was well-written and researched but I found it tedious in the extreme.

Possibly because the manuscript was left unfinished almost 30 years ago, it's not exactly the most up to date comment on Scottish history either so I'm afraid I cannot recommend it for any reason.

I often have misgivings about this sort of book - perhaps due to the stacks of lacklustre yearbooks out there, perhaps because the word "official" can sometimes just mean "dull and with all the juicy stuff taken out". That said, this book is a far cry from all that. It's a hefty thing and feels like really good quality - well worth the £20 tag (or £12.99 when I bought it here). It looks great too (none of that dull black and white tedium of the Rothmans/Sky book) with colour photos all through it and stats displayed imaginatively rather than the usual dross. It's like someone's actually thought what a real fan might want to have in this sort of book. And then made it. Definitely recommended reading.

The author quite clearly has a tremendous admiration for Charlie Tully, one of Celtic's greatest ever players. But this is more than merely a biography. Charlie Tully is put in his context of being born and brought up in poverty-ridden Belfast in 1924, of the collapse of Belfast Celtic in 1949, of Charlie's move to Glasgow in 1948 and of his tragically early death in 1971. The author rightly condemns the shambles that was Celtic in the 1950s and points the finger at the guilty men who saw Celtic with better and more talented players than Rangers, nevertheless come second best - and not even that some times! Incompetence (breathtaking sometimes) at the top is dealt with, as are hints of corruption on the playing field. This book is not an encomium of ... Read More:
