41.Sicily (Eyewitness Travel Guides) by: Fabrizio Ardito

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Sicily (Eyewitness Travel Guides)
I have no experience of other DK Eyewitness Travel Guides but this one leaves a something to be desired! I bought it in the hope that as well as being an informative and up-to-date travel guide it would be a nice reminder of my holiday in Sicily. The layout of the book is very attractive and at first glance, it does seem to be informative. Unfortunately, in reality it contains a number of frustrating mistakes. It was almost like the person who did the research got the information second hand and failed to take notes accurately. I was very disappointed that the book did not manage to deliver the goods that it seemed to promise!

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Sicily (Cadogan Guide Sicily)
This book is good to have as a supplement to a more complete guidebook - on its own it is not a very useful guidebook. For many of the entries, they provide useful historical or contextual information, but the pratical is limited. For instance, they mention natural springs that are must sees in one town, but give no information about them at all. Don't rly on this book alone.

48.Blue Guide Sicily (Blue Guides) by: Alta MacAdam

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Blue Guide Sicily (Blue Guides)
I bought this book hoping for a departure from the Lonely Planet and Rough Guide type of guide. Going by the other two reviews here I felt the Blue Guide would fit the bill exactly. Sadly, I sent it back as it was unsuitable for our planned trip as it centres pretty heavily on the historical, writing in fantastic detail about the Roman ruins etc. but for us, way too much. It is also very dense and almost impenatratable if you just want a casual look-see over a cup of coffee. Ho-hum, back to the Rough Guide with regret.
