What a fantastic little book this is and you don't have to be vegan to enjoy the recipes because they are great as they are. My husband loves the chilli recipe and I can't make enough of it for him. And what a great idea to make shepherd's pie and lasagne in a slow cooker. I would never have even thought of that. The desserts are delicious too. If you love having more time and to yourself and eating really healthy and tasty meals, then this is the book you need. It's full of receipes from around the world that you can just prepare, throw into the slow cooker and leave to cook all day. I don't really know where to start - much, much more than your average recipe book... Great to sit down and thumb through, packed full of interesting things to look at and read, and that's before you've started on the recipes! Includes loads of recipes i've not come across before, and i've yet to try one i don't love. A total find - buy it while it's here. And try the hell fire peanuts - addictive.

I really like this book and do find it inspirational. However, many many of the recipes just can't be made. They take too long, the ingredients are difficult to find or prohibitively expensive. I still think this book is worth buying though for the remaining recipes that can be made. The cool smoothies, salads, juices and some of the cookies and sweets.

I own both the Café Paradiso books and cannot rate them highly enough. It's true that few of the recipes are quick - they are taken from the restaurant and do involve plenty of prep - but the end results are incredible. It struck me recently that whenever I want to cook a vegetarian meal, recipes from either book always go down well with my husband. In contrast, most other vegetarian cook books are compiled by women and the recipes leave the average man unsatisfied! I love this book for being able to focus on a vegetable that's in season. I love both of the books for providing an entire well-balanced meal in each recipe.

I've rarely used my slow cooker in the past, except for beef chilli for my husband. I had limited expectations (although I don't know why), but this book has turned up trumps. There's a whole mix of recipes (1-2 hours, 6hrs, savoury, sweet) and most include everyday ingredients that probably hit your shopping list anyway. A few recipes; Lentil Dhal with onion, cumin and garlic Spicy Chick Peas in a a tomato sauce with rosemary Vegetable Casserole with thyme and cheese dumplings Spiced Couscous with apricots, feta and pine nuts Butter Bean and Pasta Casserole with gremolata Sticky Toffee Pudding Some recipes require you to fiddle a fair bit but most recipes are a total breeze, and ideal for me who cooks ... This is an incredibly small book - it is not much bigger than a postage stamp! Recipes are good though.
