I'm a term into my law degree, and have read a good few chapters of this book. I can safely say this is the best law book I have yet found. While the use of colour and varying fonts may seem frivolous, it actually helps to stop you falling asleep when you've been taking notes for 3 hours. The page set-up is also positive, as it splits everything up into manageable paragraphs. A previous reveiwer commented that the cases are overly long, and this could well be the case, but for an under-graduate, skim-reading these is usually adequate.

It must also be remembered that this book contains everything you need for LLB Tort, so there's no secondary text-books or case books. Taking this into account, £30 isn't such a bad deal. Plus my ... Read More:

I have been very pleased with Bromley's Family Law. I have found the information very clear and well organised. The topics are covered with an appropriate amount of detail - enough to form the basis of an essay, but no so much as to make it boring. Even those topics I was not that interested in were readable.

The relevance of caselaw to each topic was also well covered, as was the relevant legislation.

I would recommend this book to students of family law, as a reasonably detailed, but also interesting reference book.

175.Contract Law: Text, Cases, and Materials by: Ewan McKendrick

I scored 72 on my contract finals paper at Oxford and I owe a large debt to McKendrick. McKendrick writes so simply and takes time to explain so it's easy to understand. I found the text clearer than Treitel and Cheshire, and more detailled than O'Sullivan; the case/comment extracts were better than both Smith and Bishop et al, and the analysis was much, much better. E.g. in Bishop you're left to your own devices in understanding some random, quite complex stuff, when you only have a short extract. McKendrick is much more careful and, in terms of contract exam papers, he is really good at rounding up interesting academic arguments. An outstanding and remarkable resource for anyone who wants to do well in contract.

I bought this, like many, as it was on my reading list at the start of my first year. I found it fairly easy to digest and a great book to use alongside other sources, such as Westlaw. It's references are easy to find and the opening section of the book explains clearly how to use the book to its best design.
In all, a good reference book for assignments and revision, well laid out in clear to understand terminology with good accompanying segments for greater guidence on contract law.
