I am ten and Driftwood is the first book i have read by cathy cassidy and it definitely won't be the last.
I found this book thrilling ,original and most of all it made me realize that some people are very different than others.
I would recommend this book to adventurous readers and anyone who doesn't mind a tear full story.

Superb. One of the best books I've ever read and I've read more than 10. Very well written, exciting, Farrell keeps the tension really well with his, apparently, natural writing style. There are even a couple of moments of outright comedy which, rather than seeming out of place in such an horrific setting, contribute to the pathos of the story. This is a great book. Nice one, Farro.

This has become one of my favourite books. I've always loved the "witches" series and the "nac mac feegle" who appear in Carpe Jugulum invaded my brain, kicked a few bottles around and dossed down.

This is, as others have said, the third in the "Tiffany Aching" series. I admit I enjoyed the first, wasn't too struck with the second (to start with), but with this one Pratchett is back to his best. It hooked me from the start.

Pratchett's talent and skill is in the folklore and the facts which he uses in the books, the little things, like the old belief in summer and winter Gods, the laying out and sitting with the dead, etc. For me it is these small factual titbits that add to the story and make it more than your ... If you have read "His Dark Materials Trilogy" and enjoyed them you might be asking yourself the very question my title asks; where are they now?
Well... If you take a chance to read this book you will get some idea.
Here we look in on Lyra about two years after the end of the book "The Amber Spyglass".
Some people might describe this as a cheap money making ploy, but I think true fans (like myself) that were left at the end of the last book sobbing into their tissues, would enjoy this.
Yes, it might be a bit pricely, let us not forget that this short story is about the same length as a long chapter. But, we get the cool map and other paraphernalia that have fallen out between worlds into ours.

If the trilogy ... Read More:

In response to Alison's Croggans post below I would like to say a few things.

Firstly I have nearly finished the first book in the pellinor series and very good it is too, i would give it five stars but as I've not yet finished it, or the series as a whole i feel that would be unfair. It's a thoroughly engrossing, intelligent and pleasing fantasy novel.

To the comments made about similarities to Tolkien, true they are there, but they are openly made. To think that any fantasy novel (post tolkien) does not have any influence by his work is simply foolish. It is very similar to the fact that all rock music (post beatles) is in some way influenced by their work. It's inescapable.

Alisons comments about Tolkiens ... Read More:

I bought this for a 10 year old prolific reader, who devours books faster than they can be published, because I saw that it was new in print. I read it before I gave it to him.
It is wonderful - a fantastic, fabulous and magical adventure of a boy, Tom Scatterhorn, who becomes involved in an old, ramshackle, family-owned natural history museum. It quickly becomes apparent that there is more than meets the eye - the animals on display, created by a master taxidermist in the last century, can come alive. Tom finds a portal in the museum, which enables him to travel back and forth in time, between the modern day and the years in which the museum was created, and he becomes an apprentice to the master taxidermist. He finds out that the taxidermist has ... Read More:

110.Sharpe's Skirmish: Richard Sharpe and the Defence of the Tormes, August 1812 (Richard Sharpe Adventure) by: Bernard Cornwell

If you are a Sharpe fan, then this is a nice short story to add to the collection. However DO NOT expect this to be a novel, it's really just like a couple of chapters from a regular Sharpe novel. Saying that, Cornwell manages to get love, plot, betrayal and the obligatory battle into 64 pages! I would have felt short changed on value for money, but seems it's for charity, so won't complain.
