I bought this book as a present but the recipient never got this copy cos they had already got it, so i keep it and thought i might as well read it. As it started i thought, this isn't my think but soon enough i was addicted and i loved it, the adventures eragon and saphira go through with brom, with the urgals, and the varden, meeting murtagh, its a fabulous book, that i thought was going to be one of the worse books i'd read

I bought this for my five year old son to listen to for our holiday in France. The idea was to entertain whilst driving - it was fantastic - both me and my husband loved it just as much as our son. Sean Bean has a wonderful voice - a great story teller. It had us all in tears - magical! If you are thinking of buying this - go for it - you wont be disappointed!

Remembering first and foremost that this is myth wrapped into fiction, a dangerous mix at the best of times, this is far and away the best of the 3 books in the trilogy. However, the whole trilogy was spoiled for me by the incessant 'he spat' to the point when I began to believe that Southern England is a place of bogs and marshland due to the amount of saliva spat into it during Saxon times. Unfortunately an author does tend to fasten onto a word (with Martina Cole, for example, in Faces, it was 'sipped') and they do not realise they are overdoing it to an alarming degree. When I read that Joss Whedon was collaborating with the Buffy comic people I jumped out of my seat. This is season 8 but in comic format, and boy is it good...I have just started reading "No Future for you" which is the second book collecting the next 5 or so issues. Buffy at war with more than just demons! Dawn has for some reason become a giant! Xander a general type of the slayer army! Willow can...well I havent given much away here and dont want to risk giving any more. Suffice to say that there are more than a few twists here including some old and terrible characters from the Buffyverse. Take it from me once you pick this book up you wont be putting it down until the very last page. Also Angel has a similar thing going on with a Season 6 comic series.

I cannot say enough good things about the "First Favourite Tales" series of fairy tale books from Ladybird. My 2 year old daughter has every single one of them... and "The Three Little Pigs" was the first one that we bought. The pictures are delightful, and every tale has been written in a way that rolls off your tongue when read out loud. My daughter was soon joining in with some of the catchphrases... "I'll huff and I'll puff".... We have now bought the entire range, and we go through each one every night before bedtime. Be warned, some of the stories have been made a little lighter from the way that you remember them... For instance, the Giant in Jack in the Beanstalk doesn't "grind his bones to make my bread"... I am only give it a couple of stars for the insight into life in Pompeii and the lovely pictures, but I do not think it is that great for learning Latin. I am teaching Latin to my daughter and we started of with this book. She did not do very well, although she was keen to learn. We now use the more traditional "So you really want to Learn Latin", published by Galore Park, which is brilliant - lots of exercises, with the grammar taught in a logical order. You go straight into 4 tenses of "amo" in the first chapter and my daughter is coming on leaps and bounds now. My main problem with the CLC is that it is "all over the place", ie you start by learning only the nom. and acc. of nouns and by the end of book 1, only the dat. is added. I feel it is ... I used this for my GCSE english and found it very useful. The layout is very easy to use and navigate and makes learning this novel much easier. It is set out neatly and I thought that it was really interesting. I found that if i used them in conjunction with my school notes I had pretty much all the information that I could possibly need. Over the years I know many people who have used this book and there has only been good reviews. I highly recommend it.
