have just finished reading this book was as good as last two books, cant wait to get my hands on gods of war has really got my interest in ancient rome and caeser up to fever pitch. wWuld recommend anyone who enjoys a read to take you away from the reality of every day life to read this series. just remember it is more fictional than fact maybe all the better for that!!!!! And if you missed Tino Georgiou's--The Fates--I strongly recommend reading it.

I'd always enjoyed being read and later reading myself the Just So Stories. With children of my own I started them on these stories and having a cd of them means we can enjoy them on the move. The joy of hearing Jonnie Morris' super animal voice characterisations just adds to the enjoyment - takes me back to watching Animal Magic - deep joy!
Four year old daughter enjoys listening to the stories but my nine year old son has become a great fan - this now regularly is on his cd player in his room.
Buy this and you'll all be able to listen together and enjoy.

While not the best of the series to date this book still has more than its fair share of charms. It's character interactions, pacing and breathless action are as usual top notch. Given the position of the series, with the Roman Campaign bogged down after more than a year its understandable the setting is not quite as grand, Marco and Cato understandably not at the centre of main events following their injuries in the previous novel. All in all this is an enjoyable installment in the series with no major flaws.

I have just finished this latest instalment of The Wardstone Chronicles, and I like some others rate this as the best so far, even though I did kind of guess what was going to happen/be explained, and let me admit I don't feel at all guilty about reading 'kids' books - and I'm 36, (might feel abit guilty about ignoring the family while reading though).
I stumbled upon the series late last year and eagerly read one after the other, now I'm in the position I was in a few years ago when I had to wait for the next Potter book.

I love Philippa Gregory's Tudor novels and am only sorry that I have now concluded reading all of them. This one has some problems that disappointed me - Elizabeth is a giggling, easily-led dope, and not the shrewd manipulator and politician that we know her to be from historical record. I suspect Dudley and Cecil are fairly accurately represented, however, and I was very interested in the viewpoint of Amy Dudley, the innocent wife cast aside in favor of power and the title of King.

This was an interesting read, and one that kept me turning the pages, but it was not up to the standard of the other Tudor books. I preferred Boleyn Inheritance and The Constant Princess for intrigue. I hope for better things in the future.

Wonderful pictures for toddlers and mesmerising text for children. My little boy - fifteen months old - absolutely adores it. The expressions on Max's (the little boy) face are classic and the monsters are wonderful. Sort of slightly scary but also adorable.

I remember reading this myself when so little and I don't actually think it's dated *that* much. An important addition to any little one's library.

This is such a fun story. I have even used it on a teddy bear's picnic, getting the children to act out each part eventually finding a rather large teddy bear. Children of all ages love it.

Recently I went to see "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" in the cinema, but I hate seeing films I haven't read the book of. I had seen the trailer and thought it looked absolutly awesome! I quickly ordered the book from Amazon, and could not put it down! Honestly, I picked it up at 4 and did not stop reading until 8!! It is one of the best books in the world, and can only be out done in humour by the legend of Bridget Jones. It is fabulous book about very realistic problems faced by your average teenager, yet it isn't whingy or boring or moany, just hilarious and honest!! It doesn't blow anything out of proportions, like so much chick-lit does. Basically it is just fabulous!!

I realise that the last part in this absorbing triolgy had to be finsihed off by Stella Gemmell following David's untimely death. Although other reviewers suggest that this is seemless, I beg to dissagree. The final part of the triolgy is well crafted and brings a touch of refreshing, imagined "realism" to the tale of Troy's downfall. However, the storyline falls flat towards the end. Clearly, David Gemmell had a longer work in mind. Perhaps, even another book or series of books, charting the mythical rise of Rome (the "Seven Hills" of his story) in the manner of the Aeneid, just as the Trojan War triolgy is broadly based on the Iliad. We shall never know and that is a shame because that story is one which would have benefited from a re-telling by someone with David ... Read More:
