I come back to this book again and again. The people who criticise it are, as they admit, already doing these things with their toddlers. Though I doubt it... there are so many good activities. The fact is, most of us are not doing these things - other things and the older children get more attention. The beauty of the book is that you can quickly look through and something will leap out at you. Or maybe you decide that you'll do an activity, but tailor it to your family in certain ways... I have an older child and this book reminds me to let the toddler be a toddler - not an issue if this is your first, but a toddler's needs can get squeezed out, and this is the remedy. Highly recommended.

I bought this book for my one year old and it was a big hit. The illustrations are bold and simple to understand and the feely patches are fantastic; the wooly tail, the scratchy paws etc... Highly recommended as are the other books in this series.

This has got to be my 5 year old's most favourite book of all times. There is so much to learn in this book and every time we read it we discover yet another flap and another piece of useful information or a fun fact. Its fantastic for this age group as they find most of the "ewww" stuff very funny and interesting. I learned some new things reading it as well!

I read this book in under an hour. It is very easy to follow and tells you expactly what you need to know so that you can teach your child to read. It is straight to the point and just tells you what you need to know. I have taught my son the phonics sounds using Jolly & did not know what to do next. This book has given me the confidence to go ahead and teach him how to sound out words & eventually read. It shows you how to use its reading scheme where it has letters & words at the beginning of each book for your child to practise before they read the book.
