i've used this book for both my maths modular exams now and i think the're excellent. its good because they seperate the book into chunks and also its got exercises at the end of each page. very very good i recommend this to anyone who's fed up with the normal reading revision books.

I truly believe that in years to come, this will be regarded as one of the great children's classics, right up at the top with Alice in Wonderland.

I have waited a long time for this book - or it seems that way at least. For years, other Star Trek books have been telling me that it's coming, and now it's finally here. I was disappointed. I suppose that there's nothing wrong with it as such - the writing is all good, the cover style amused me, and side one looked like an excellent springboard for side two. Unfortunately, at that point it unravelled. Now, it's not that side two was in any way bad - the story of Iliana Ghemor was written excellently, and certainly brought you to sympathise with her in a way that I find exceedingly rare for non-canon characters, ones created be Peter David and Keith R.A. deCandido excluded. My class really enjoy the starters provided from this series of books - and at only £3 a go, they are an absolute bargain. Each one of them is packed with ideas for starters which, although labelled Y7, Y8 and Y9 are suitable for Upper KS2 into KS3 and lower KS4. This one also includes mental/oral science tasks that can be used with brighter KS2 children. With a little adaptation, even my weaker KS2 children have been able to access some of the tasks - but which of us would consider taking something straight from a book without considering differentiating it to suit the abilities of our children? This is not the genre of books that I usually read but I was hooked from the first page. The quality of Phillip Pullman's writing meant that I was instantly transported to firstly Victorian London, then Razkavia, a country that I almost feel patriotic about. I now look forward to reading the preceeding three Sally Lockhart books.

Everyone has their own way of revising. Some use flow diagrams or minds maps, some prefer revision cards, and some really learn from working through a revision guide. If you, like me learn best from this, this bok is fantastic. Each topic is a chapter, and it guides you through with diagrams and bright clours, which makes it very readable. It says that at the end of each page you should write down what you have learnt from this page, and at the end of every chapter there's some revision questions and some practise exam questions. Used properly, this book leads you into the exam properly prepared. I have the CGP books for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, French and Geography and I think they're brilliant

I actualy love this book, even thought its over 30 years since its been writen, the issues in the book havn't chanaged. I can completely relate to what Kath goes through. I so wanted it to work out between them, and it all be okay, but thats not how real life works, and its not how the book is. But, saying that , its not like the book had one of them horrible soppy ending , its just how real life is. A definite read for anyone 12 upwards, and i only say 12 upwards because some of the scenes in the book are a little explicit. A timeless book, well wortth reading.

Having met my daughter's maths teacher who showed me this book to be the foundation of her teachings to all the children in Year 3 (7/8 year olds) I knew that this, together with Books 1,2,4,5 & 6, would be the ideal support for homework assistance. Until I bought this from Amazon, I had no guidelines at all and didn't know if the arithmetic I was 'teaching' at home was too hard, too easy or just plain useless. Now with this book I have the perfect assistant, because I know that the specific topics covered and the level of difficulty is exactly matched to what my daughter is studying at school, so it's an excellent revisionary tool, and it's even enjoyable too!
