This is an excellent book and i cant wait to sit my little girl down with it when the dreaded time arrives, this book is going to make the whole experience so much easier the only problem being that i am going to find it really hard not to laugh whilst reading it to her! Babette Cole is an absolutely fantastic author, i was a big fan when i was younger, and I'm really looking forward to introducing my Daughter to her fantastic books. A big part of the comedy in her books are in the actual pictures so please do remember to have a good look at them. This a set of 5 books. They are fun, adventurous and really exciting.I have enjoyed reading them with my Mummy and Daddy. The stories are about 3 children called Simon, Jared and Mallory and their adventures with creatures like goblins and boggarts. They go on a quest to find their great uncle.

A little boy who only wants to eat chips is sent into the garden and told he can eat anything he finds! Interesting to see what he tries on his quest to find chips! Quite an old book but lots of fun. Unusual pictures.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, the hardcover Egmont Books edition (ISBN 0603560733) of the "Faraway Tree Collection" has been heavily abridged. However, after comparing this edition with the newer "Politically correct" edition, it is not only the last 6 chapters of the "Faraway Tree" that got chopped but several middle chapters of the "Enchanted Wood" as well. The 20th chapter was also heavily cut to mask the gaps in the storyline caused by the editing. Egmont, why bother to reproduce these books with the original language, pictures and atmosphere if you end up abridging the contents? Waste of effort in my opinion. This one's going back. Disappointed.

Max is a hedgehog, he wants to go to the park but to do that he has to cross the road safely. One problem, the traffic is terrible! He sees humans cross over safe and sound so why can't hedgehogs? He tries lots of things and one time he does get badly hurt on his head and his bottom, which makes him talk strangely. He says things like "Something bot me on the hittom" or "Hip! Hip! Roohay!" Finally, Max finds a solution after a long time so he and his family can go to the park unharmed.

My 11 month old son loves this book, and Farmyard Hullabaloo and Commotion on the Ocean. He seems to enjoy the rhymes and obviously loves the colourful, fun illustrations that are so mucha trademark of this series. This book has prompted many 'discussions' with my son about dinosaurs and I've spent many evenings checking things that have come out of our 'chats' on the internet. It certainly seems to be factually correct in most repects as well as having fun, silly rhymes that are easy to read and remember.

I haven't played any musical instruments since I took flute and piano lessons in school. I had forgotten everything about playing an instrument and hadn't a clue how to read music. So I decided to go back to the very beginning and learn how to play the humble school recorder again. This book is amazing. In less than two days it had me reading simple music and playing simple tunes. Everything is explained simply and clearly and has exercises to help you remember what you have learned. I recommend this to anyone wanting to rekindle theri passion for music ... you'll be playing in no time. It's also simple enough for very young children.
