Although now in my late twenties, I am still fascinated by Tintin, his friends and his adventures. I do not claim to be a Tintinologist. As a child I used to read the full size editions, however, I prefer this smaller format, as it is compact and there is no loss of detail in the text or illustration. It is also more robust in hardback: how quickly did the paperback get dog-eared when read by an excited child? Interestingly, there is no contents page. You must therefore "thumb" to find the story you require. I know that is a rather pedantic issue, but there is completeness to consider. If there was a zero star I would have to put that. The worst thing is reading a book where an author obviously has strange, misguided and warped opinions and hang-ups regarding society, sexuality and religious faiths and puts them into the mouths of his or her little invented characters (which all reveal a little part of the writer). Even the characters themselves are weird and un-likable and get up to revolting and unsavoury things. If you take the entire conception of this trilogy as a possible reality and to it's obvious conclusion you would go mad with no hope. I read these books out of interest and was very disappointed. What strange ideas throughout the whole vein of these stories. I would definately recommend Narnia instead where the characters ... Read More:

The stories are as good as the "normal" Famous Five audio CDs, but a word of caution. The actors who read the parts of the five (except Timmy of course), and mother, aren't the same as the other Hodder CDs. Not that it detracts from the stories (and the voices are indeed very close), but small children can be confused as to why the "Five" aren't the same people.

like all captain underpants books this one was very funny, lots of adventure and completely mad.there were lots of pranks from george beard and harold hutchins and the wicked wedgie woman was superbly silly, spraying starch on captain underpants pants was just hilarious! I laughed all the way through reading it and can't wait for another captain underpants books.
