Everyone knows the original stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and The Wolf and The Three Little Pigs, written by Charles Perrault (Cinderella), Brothers Grimm (all the rest); but Roald Dahl has changed the stories and put in some gruesome humour - these rewrites are not suitable for grumpy old grown ups so be aware! My favourite story out of all of Dahl's altered fairy tales is definitely Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf & the three little pigs because they are linked together with Little Red Riding Hood who gives the wolf and the pigs' horrible endings! I would rate this book 9/ 10 because it could have had another one or two other famous ... Read More:

This book is about a boy and his grandma. Unfortunately his parents died
so he went to live with his Nan in England. In the 6 weeks holiday he was going to Norway but his Nan had pneumonia so he could not. He went to Bournemouth instead. In the hotel there were roughly 99 witches (including the grand high witch). He went to train his mice and he got caught in the room with them .....
I like the book because the characters were amazing.
It was just the words I wanted to read, I could not wait to read on to the other chapters. It is my all time favourite book.
I would give this novel a rating of a wicked 5.

Children & Baby Books : Comic Relief: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Harry Potter's Schoolbooks)
A lovely read, I find myself reaching time and time again for this book because of the hilarious "comments" made my Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. This really does remind of a fantasy textbook, in the way that we would all love to scribble in our textbooks from time to time, to enliven the dull formulas and such that we all have had to learn! However, this is anything but dull.

JK Rowling goes into detail about mythical creatures, all of which are very interesting to read, partly due to the fact that most of them have been mentioned in the Harry Potter series, and you find yourself giving a little smile of recognition once every two minutes.

Funny, short, and a wonderful thing to keep on your bookshelf - if you have a few minutes to ... Read More:

It really is a classic that I think will survive a long time. It's not challanging and very sweet and on the whole very enjoyable.
I read it in one evening when I when I had the flu in bed and it kept me entertained so much that I finished it! Every girl should read it and even teenage girls like me!

I can't believe I missed out on this one as a child... but it's just as good coming to it as an adult. The perfect lazy Sunday afternoon book to read. Adults can also escape to the wilds of Lake Windemere (Lake District), to sail up the Amazon, do battle with pirates and search for buried treasure on Cormorant Island.

The year is 1929 and story is about four children - John, Susan, Titty and Roger (in age order) - who are holidaying on the shores of Lake Windemere with their mum and baby sister, Vicky. The children are an adventurous lot and love sailing in their boat, the Swallow. Towards the end of their holiday they persuade their mum to allow them on an adventure for a week. They're allowed to sail across to the island not far away and make camp ... Read More:

i was waiting for this book with high hopes as i hoped it would be as good as the first one, i was not disappointed i could even say it was better thatn the first.

We meet the characters again in the prologue, they have a fight with the wargals they were tracking and will misses his target twice as he panics after the fight he believes he can't be a ranger anymore because he thinks he isn't good enough Halt quickly reassures him. But, will is still ashamed.

Throughout the book you see will become more confident not to let Halt down again. Will then goes on a mission with Horrace and Gilan to the celts to discover them gone. Gilan leaves them to tell king Duncan leaving the apprentices alone to follow later. As events unravel things become more exciting and ... Read More:

Can dressing up be art? How Do you paint feelings? Can you paint a noise? This book stimulates children's own creativity and imagination by getting them to question why artists do the things they do. It contains about 30 reproductions of paintings and art work from a mix of genres and explains what they are about and how they were created as well as giving detail on the artists lives. After we bought this we took our son to The National Gallery to see many of the works for real and having already had a basic introduction through this book he was utterly fasicnated. Adults can learn from this too and I would buy it for any child from 5+ What is so lovely about this book is the fact that you can read it on so many differnent levels. There is a second book just out and I'm sure Santa ... Read More:
