I love this book! I remember it from when I was a kid, (more than 30 years ago!) I have been searching for it for ages for my 3 year old son who loves books, and he loves it too. Not sure if it has changed over the years, but it's very much the same as I remember it to be.

This audio CD book, alongside with other Naxos educational CDs for children, is absolutely fantastic. It contains loads of information, so adults interest is guaranteed as well as children's fascination. It's a must for curious little minds. Presented in an easy listening format, it educates and enterntains at the same time. Boring car journeys became a highly enjoyable and educational experiences in our family since Naxos CDs were purchased. Being non-fiction, they can be listened to over and over again, offering a chance for the child to remember and/or understand more details each time.

I read this book for the first time when I started teaching and it was the set book for the little girls in my class. They loved it and we spent happy hours discussing it. I ordered it from Amazon this year and was just as delighted many years later, to re-read the book. It has a quiet charm about it, a philosophical appreciation of the importance of making things as good as you can, even when money is very scarce. There is no mawkish sentimentality about it, just a pleasant calm. However, predominantly, it is a book for children who love it now just as much as the children did when it was first published.

Timeless and simply beautiful to read, you can not stop reading it but you can put it down and pick it up again. I don't usually read books twice but I will this one. Living in the west country you can identify with the places and loose yourself in them. This book should be one every country lovers book shelf.

Timeless and simply beautiful to read, you can not stop reading it but you can put it down and pick it up again. I don't usually read books twice but I will this one. Living in the west country you can identify with the places and loose yourself in them. This book should be one every country lovers book shelf.

When my children were little this was their favourite book. I bought a tape to go with it and when my eldest son went to school aged 4 and the teacher read it to the class she had to ask him to keep quiet as he knew it word for word! My son is now 23 and has recently taken the book back to his own home. My daughter now aged 21 also wanted it - so all these years later i'm buying another copy for her. We all think it's a wonderful book, read it aloud to children using silly voices and they'll love it. My kids still remember my impression of the roly poly bird. Great fun.

In this book, the Ingalls meets some Native Indians, Mr Edwards and Mrs Scott. The whole family catch `Fever n' 'angue' which now is called Malaria. While Pa is out, some Indians come and take tobacco and some food. They do this a second time while Pa is out about a few months after. At the end, Laura and her family leave again searching for a new home in Minnesota. This book is so imaginative that it feels like a fiction where you are experiencing everything. I really enjoyed `The Little House in the Prairie' and I think this book is really good. I really recommend it to everyone who reads this review. I rate this book 9/ 10.

This audiobook is a great recording of Eleanor H. Porter's book and a a good price at Amazon. If you like classic stories like Heidi, A Little Princess, The Secret Garden and Five Children and It this is for you if you watched the Disney film or read the book you'll know the story. What else can I say buy this audiobook and enjoy.
