A wonderfully written book that appeals to all ages and remains fresh after all these years. The story about the friendship between Badger, Ratty, Mole and Toad meanders gently along with a magical feel, nice touches of humour throughout while subtly mentioning the effects wrought on the countryside by modern technology. This doesn't detract in any way however from the fun of the book and you'll come back to it again and again.

From the days when they were 'Little Women', it was Jo who has been a central figure in the chronicles of March family. In 'Little Men' it is amazing to see how she has grown and matured in to a woman who resembles Mrs March. Just like Mrs March has been a pillar of strength and beacon of moralities in 'Little Women', here it is Jo, who shows the way to the unique boys.
It is interesting to note that while in 'Little Women' Mr March has been largely absent (which does not detract anything from the book), that in 'Little Men' we can see the different roles Mr Bhaer and Mrs Bhaer play in the nurturing of the boys.

While in this day and age already permeaed with psycho-analysis and various therapeutic and counselling sessions, this ... Read More:

Children & Baby Books : Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Oxford World's Classics)
When I first picked up this book, a christmas present, I thought I wouldn't be able to get past the first page. I'm not a great fan of 'classics', but this book is really enjoyable. It's not too difficult to read like some older books, but has a great story and I found it interesting, and funny too, surprisingly. I would recommend it to anyone who is new to classic-reading as well as people who enjoy older books.

This book is a treasure. What a pity that it doesn't cover all the plays. But the ones it does handle are covered superbly. An entire play is described in 10-12 pages, as if they were meant to be retold that way. What happens in The Tempest? What is the story of Midsummer Night's Dream? What is Much Ado About Nothing all about?
All these questions are answered in this book, quickly. This is like getting a classical education in a couple of hours! Shakespeare buffs will no doubt hate it, but anyone who needs a working, practical knowledge of the plays (like me) will love it!

Good Wives picks up a few months after Little Women closes. Meg is about to get married and the other girls are on the brink of womenhood. It isn't all plain sailing though as the hopes and dreams of the girls aren't realised exactly as they thought they would be and tragedy strikes. I must have read this book a thousand times and I cry every time. Having said that, it is a heartwarming book and I every time I read it, I enjoy it even more!

Children & Baby Books : World of Peter Rabbit Giftbox: Tales 1-12 (The World of Peter Rabbit)

The Tale of Peter Rabbit was written in 1900 and has stood the test of time very well. Generations of children have loved the story of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck among others and treasured the books of Beatrix Potter. It is up there among the greats of children's literature with Wind in the Willows, The Water Babies, Peter Pan, Treasure Island and many others.

In these days of computer games and electronic toys of one kind or another, books sadly are sometimes not as high on the list as they were a few years ago, perhaps that is why literacy in schools is not all that it could be. Personally as a child books were always my first love and Christmas would not have been the same without a Rupert annual.
