Now that all seven members of the Sanders-Hardiman expedition are in a strange hypnotic sleep its up to Tintin to solve the mystery! We also wait in anticipation to see if Captain Haddock can survive without his spare monocles! A excellent read!

Got to be top five this one, there's great humour all the way through this sunny adventure, and the traffic jams of horses and carts (including sports carts) slowly making their way to the coast is wonderful satire on the modern age.

"Destination Moon" ("Objectif Lune," 1953) gives a detailed account on the preparation and the launching of the expedition to the Moon from the Sprodj Atomic Research Center in Syldavaia using the rocket designed by Professor Calculus. However, be forewarned that this is the first half of the tale, which is continued in "Explorers on the Moon." So do not let the cliffhanger ending to this volume throw you for a loop. Just make a point of picking up both halves of the story and you can avoid any sleepless nights worrying about Tintin and his friends. The collection of 7 books that make up the Nausicaa collection are fantastic. I read them all in about two days, once you start them you cannot stop. The paper quality is a bit low, but what can you expect for the price. You read them in the Japanese right to left style which takes some getting used to, but lends authenticity to the books. It has additional stuff to the film and more depth. A brilliant intro to Miyazaki's anime.

If like me you're desperate to get your children to read more then The adventures of Tin-Tin are a good way to do this. My son's 11 and is a big fan. There's a huge base of these great books and I would thoroughly recommend them. They are totally innocuous, so there's no worries about inappropriate language or situations, not that I'm being unrealistic as 5 mins on an xbox360 seems to give children more exposure to societies less pleasant side than anyone really needs, but strangely enough children seem to enjoy a simplistic fantasy story of one boy and his dog.
