An enjoyable film , but not as powerful or as moving as the film Amistad in conveying the cruelty and injustice of slavery. Despite this, an enjoyable film, especially the rousing bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace at the end which was worth the price of the DVD alone.

This (probably) beautiful film by one of my favourite directors was ruined by a musical score (yet again!) drowning out the dialogue. When will they learn less is more???

This is not a great movie.

I watched Blood Simple for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching Francis McDermott. She was fantastic in Fargo. Fargo was a great movie with all the right moves, excellent tone, bizarre characters, and a flatly affected but very strong pregnant cop played by McDermott. The Coen brothers are known for their slightly off-kilter films. Raising Arizona with Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter was a very successful and entertaining quirky movie. Strange characters and bizarre situations can be very entertaining. The formula just doesn't work in Miller's Crossing.

Gabriel Byrne stars as a dirtball gangster. He's the slimey no. 2 to Albert Finney in Finney's massive gangster world. Finney is the real power ... Read More:

I bought this because it would save me space. It's the size of a normal DVD box, feels great and looks slick.

The DVD's in themselve are great as everyone knows. A fourth? It might be in the pipeline but wasn't written by the guy who wrote the original books.

The story as it goes in brief if you haven't already discovered. Bourne is an agent for the US government. Sent to do a job which goes array. He losses his memory and from the beginning of the first film, Bourne tries to recall who he is and tries to work out his memories.

The plot starts in the Med. and takes us on a rollercoaster of a ride. Visiting all the big hitters in Europe. France, Germany, England to the USA for a grand finale.

It's just great.

This was the most embarrassing mess from Tim Burton. It should be deleted from his CV very quickly. It was so bad I thought that Ron Howard made it.
Synthetic rubbish. The story was like someone from Deliverance pitched a fairy tale to Walt Disney. I'm ashamed to have rented it, I felt like vomiting after it ended.

Why can't we get more films like this, a strong story, based on actual events, excellent performances and dialogue which sounds like it is based on how real people talk to each other?

I don't know how accurate this particular story about corporate deceit and environmental pollution is but, given the track record of big corporations, it should be a rich vein for film makers to mine. 'Erin Brockovich' is very good, a shocking story of land pollution and resultant death and disease in a community. A story, however, which would not have been told were it not for the efforts of one woman to get behind the obfuscation and at the truth. It's a juicy role and Julia Roberts grabs it for all she is worth, she is superb, full of anger and determination to use the opportunity ... Read More:

Enter Tim Burton Director master of the dark spooky film noir and you have an animated film drawing experience from A Nightmare Before Christmas but not quite as good a tale....The Corpse Bride is simplistic in plot when a young man attempts to wed a bride, a ghost bride from the past who was taken away from this world yearns to marry the young man instead.Whilst initially bitter and heartbroken the young man tries to escape to no avail and therein lies the story to come......The Corpse Bride is a dark look at at a children's tale with a happy ending with various characters such as the real life bride's snobbish parents and a make belief land of the dead. This is an entertaining tale if not fantastic....but one thing that is fantastic is the picture quality of this hd-dvd. Colours are vibrant ... Read More:

First I need to point out this film is definitely not a feelgood film, it's very dark, downbeat and, ultimately, very sad. Two brothers with major financial problems decide to carry out a financial scam involving the robbery of their own parent's jewellery store. The idea is the brainchild of the older brother, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, and when he first pitches it to his younger brother, Ethan Hawke, he has to do quite a lot of persuading to convince him. In the end they both agree that such a risky and desperate scam is realistically the only way to get them both out of their current dire financial straits. It's a decision that ends up having a profound and tragic effect on them and their family's lives.

The cast and acting in this film is top notch and the performances ... Read More:
