The reason that these movies are so popular is because there is a little bit of Indiana Jones in all of us. We enjoy the mystery of cloak and dagger, the excitement of exploring new places, the fun of discovery and the adventurous spirit that is deep rooted in all of us.

George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg were able to tap into their own psyche as boys and have done an exceptional job of bringing our dreams to life in the form of a character appropriately named...Indiana Jones!

Harrison Ford is an exceptional actor who brings to the screen exactly the right mix of excitement, entertainment, fun and spiced with a bit of tongue and cheek. The majority of the supporting actors in these series are no slouches either. ... Read More:

Why mess with success? That seems to be the idea behind this season of Monk. And while it wasn't as strong as some of the other seasons have been, it was certain still fun.

The season opens with Sarah Silverman reprising her role as Monk's biggest fan. She hires Monk (Tony Shalhoub) to find out who is framing her dog for murder. The catch? The dog died before the murder took place.

And there is more fun to be had. Monk suspects Captain Stottlemeyer's (Ted Levine) new girlfriend of murder. Natalie's (Traylor Howard) daughter Julie (Emmy Clarke) gets her first boyfriend and learns to drive. Monk takes a job as a security guard at his bank to catch a robber. And he must deal with the consequences of shooting Santa. And he falls ... Read More:

A bold and colourful film about the audacious and uncompromising Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, from her tram accident at 18, which left her with excruciating chronic pain, through her many affairs with both men and women, including Leon Troksy, and her tumultuous but enduring marriage to Mexican muralist, Diego Riviera.

Her life was full of circumstance and the pain and tragedies that she endured are imbued in her vibrant paintings.

Here, director Julie Taymore shows she is an extremely talented and accomplished director, displaying her artistic vision and skill, making fantastic use of colour, art and music.

Visually resplendent, this is an alluring film.

Kenneth Branagh's film of As You Like It received a pretty cool critical reception as I remember. Amazon reviewers don't appear to be overwhelmed either. I came to it with low expectations but enjoyed it far more than I ever hoped I would.

Yes - the 19th century Japanese setting is a bit of a problem. It is hardy what one expects to encounter in this play. The (Sumo) wrestling scene is frankly comical - I don't think Shakespeare intended us laugh hysterically at this point! More worryingly, Branagh tries to carry the Japanese setting over into the Forest of Arden. The main problem is that this is one of Shakespeare's most English plays. There are more songs in this play than in any other he wrote, though few of them make it into the ... Read More:

Ok before i start my review of this movie/DVD please note that the comments other people have made about the aspect ration being messed up are wrong! I found no problem what so ever with this disc and there was certainly no "oogie Nights" at the start!
Now onto the movie....
This film rightly deserves to be called a classic. Why? Becuase it's unique. There have been a few imitations (Wonderland is one) but non have ever come close to the sheer power and honesty of this movie. Many people see the porn industy as glamour and non stop partying. But as this movie proves there is much more to it. These people have lives and, just like you and i, they have problems. The film starts off charting the rise to fame of "Dirk Diggler" the new boy in the porn industry. ... Read More:

This film has an engaging story line and, for a 'fantasy' film with little pretence, has moments of poetry and romance that are quite memorable. However, the effect is significantly spoiled by the atrocious choice of music. The '80s electro rock soundtrack is bad enough on its own but it also clashes horribly with the settings, the theme and the mood of the story and the images. The name of Alan Parson (producer of Pink Floyd) was probably used to appeal to the viewers but the bursts of upbeat music that accompany the action scenes makes this film look much sillier than it actually is. The re-make of the soundtrack in surround sound has been carried out satisfactorily; pity they did not ditch the music altogether and replaced it with something (anything!) more suitable.

This film, for me, was a quite harrowing experience. It tells the story (loosely true but altered for dramatic purposes and to, perhaps, protect the innocent) of how an American white woman marries a nice Americanized hospital doctor (he had lived in the USA for 20 years); they had a daughter; he is somewhat ostracized at the Michigan hospital in which he works or feels he is; he tricks wife into going on a "holiday" to Iran to visit his family, at the time of the Iran-Iraq War of the mid-1980's. She ends up being kept a prisoner by him and his family, as the mindless fanatics parade their backwardness and hatred in the streets. A few brave Iranian people help her to try to escape with her daughter. The film is riveting, in my opinion. I felt washed out by the end. One interesting ... Read More:

This version of Maverick stars Mel Gibson as Bret Maverick, and James Garner, the original Maverick, as Zane Cooper. Add Jodi Foster as AnnaBelle Bransford with a fake southern-belle accent and a Riverboat Poker Game with very high stakes and you have all the elements for a tongue in cheek light hearted comedy. With these pros you will have to laugh.

I read the novel `Silk' by Alessandro Baricco and loved it. Therefore, I was rather wary of seeing the adaptation. But when I saw the film, I was not disappointed; the visual imagery is beautiful and the Japanese symbolism was well-related.

The location of the story is France in 1862. Herve (Michael Pitt) is convinced by Baldabiou (Alfred Molina) to travel in search of silkworm eggs in order to save the silk-making business. Herve travels to Africa and Japan. During his trip to Japan, he falls in love with a Japanese concubine. When he returns home to France, he cannot forget the Japanese beauty and continues to obsessively long for her.

The untranslated Japanese conversations allows the audience to relate to the main character, as he too does not understand the language. ... Read More:
