What more can I say... this truly is a classic show that has and certainly will continue to stand the test of time and it is right now a steal at its current price.

I have to agree with two other reviewers here...

the American reviewer who says that how well written and acted "one foot in the grave" is really shows how poorly most American comedies compare. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like some American comedies ... Friends, Seinfeld, Cheers in particular but even these shows don't hold a stick to a show like this (and in my opinion to most successful British-made sitcoms who know when to bow out and don't suffer the conveyor belt syndrome of 24 episodes every year regardless of actual episode and story quality). ... I watched the whole series back to back and I was highly amused from start to finish.
Jill is a nasty peice if work but you can't help but root for her.
Loved Glenn the freak and his nervous "frog catching the fly" twitch.[It sounds daft but thats what he does]
I won't go into details about the plot as previous posters have covered it all but I can honestly say you will laugh out loud at Jill and the gangs very far-fetched shennanigans[the funeral scene where jill arrives to the church on a black stallion to the Pretenders"I'll Stand By You" just cracked me up-talk about O.T.T] and you will love every single minute.

series two of nighty night truly went for it,more adult, more obscene, more over the top and in doing so lost some of its comical edge, but is still miles better than the more mainstream rubbish that appears on television.
Series two carries on from where series one left off,but is set in cornwall where husband don and wife cath have fleed to start again and get away from the evil clutches of jill, again played brilliantly by creator julia davis,a witch that few can draw comparison too,the lies she tells, the way she manipulates and prods at peoples weaknesses and of course her generosity,as in she buys someone a gift and then says ,we will square up later or it gets nasty is pure gold and one of her catchphrases that sums her up best.
Jill eventually tracks ... Read More:

I am a big fan of historical movies but I have learned in the past never to expect too much of them. They tend to be over dramatised and sensationalised for Hollywood glamour. Thankfully this is not the case with Elizabeth.

This movie is very enjoyable and up to perhaps the final twenty minutes maintains a very engrossing plot and pace. Then it tends to drag a bit but that's no big thing. Yes there are historical inaccuracies (name me a movie now a days that is historically accurate!!!) but unlike so many other historical movies (The Other Boleyan Girl comes straight to mind and I shudder at the memory of it) the misleading facts are not as blatently obvious as they usually are. In fact unless you are quite up on the history of this time you wouldn't notice ... Read More:

I heart Angus Deayton. Best tv host ever during that time period. He's so much funnier than Paul Merton it isn't even a contest, and he manages to be more articulate than Hislop as well. BBC made a mistake by letting him go.

This is one of the best series of One Foot In The Grave, containing the episodes: The Man Who Blew Away, Only A Story, The Affair of the Hollow Lady, Hole In The Sky; and two of my all-time favourite episodes: Rearranging the Dust and The Exterminating Angel! This 2-disc DVD set also includes the brilliant 1995 Xmas special, Wisdom of the Witch, as well as commentary on the episode The Man Who Blew Away from writer David Renwick and star Richard Wilson. One of the best purchases I've made in months!

Great comedy series as I start to sound like Victor Meldrew myself. This series (6) is NOT full screen, but a pristine 16x9 anamorphic transfer with excellent picture quality. A great improvement on the older 4x3 transfers from video tape that seemed to have been shedding its oxide. Highly recommended for all those who enjoy wink, wink, nudge, nudge British humour.

Whilst this series may not have quite the universal appeal as more 'magnolia' offerings like the omnipresent Only Fools and Horses, it is worthy of more effort than this half hearted compilation. For me, One Foot In The Grave has probably the greatest emotional range of any program in recent times and this can only really be experienced in full by watching the episodes in the correct sequence. David Renwicks characters have great depth, and over time you really do discover more and more about Victor and Margaret and why they are who they are. The peerless performances by Richard Wilson and Annette Crosbie can make you cry with laughter whilst also lending real weight to the darker moments of the program. I believe releases of entire series to DVD is imminent if the BBC website is to be believed. Lets hope ... Read More:
