Obviously designed for the younger generation, Step Up 2: The Streets is a well choreographed and fast paced movie that has less of the drama of the first, but a lot more of the message, 'It's not what you have, it's what you make of what you have'. The storyline was lacking a lot after the first, but I found the dancing and the rawness of this film a lot better than the first. It seems a lot less polished than the first also (Perhaps due to style of dance or new directing), but nethertheless it's a good film. ... I bought it for my girlfriend's son, who was delighted. The 'Fame' and 'Dirty Dancing' of its day, it would appear.

I only watched this film after seeing Step Up 2 in the cinema, and first off was rather surprised that there was a complete change of characters in the two films (except for Tyler, who was present in Step Up 2 at the start). The film itself is really enjoyable to watch - make no mistake, it's not worth an oscar and most likely will not last the decades and remain in peoples dvd collections for years to come, but it's entertaining to watch, and much better than flicking through the tv channels aimlessly for hours in an attempt to find anything half decent to watch. I usually find that chick flicks disappoint and are not as funny as they promise. Probably because the funniest parts of the film are usually showed in the trailers. However with Shes the man I was pleasantly surprised! Amanda Bynes does a really good job and is full of laughs and is oddly believable as a boy. I would definitely rate this film and it is definitely a film that I can watch over and over again. Much better than Mean girls.
