This series continues with dark and serious mood that was in collection 6. No more Ms. Lemon and Capt. Hastings. If someone knows what happened to them please let me know as I miss them :) Among other things, I have noticed that Poirot seems to be more religious in later novels of Agatha Christie (as in Appointment With Death). But then with age, order and method are not the only tools for little grey cells....perhaps.
I am sure fans of previous collections will love this collection as well.

If you have issues with your dad then this film may make you want to do something about it! I would not call the film a real weepy but it should make you shed tear if you are half human!! A good watch recommended

One can see what they're trying to do with this, but, love him though I do, Stephen Fry is just not a good enough actor to carry this series. The result is a beautifully shot but ultimately dreary small town piece with characters in danger--and in several cases guilty--of succumbing to stereotype.

That's what this film is. I say small only because the whole subject is small - a small suburban family's daily existence. But from the moment they open their front door to us, we are reminded how extraordinary normal everyday families can be. The tone is bitingly satirical as it sends up some of the odder urban steroetypes of modern times. Without giving away these superb characters, Spall and Horrocks are hysterical and worryingly good in their roles. The Horrocks character in particular is a gem and is the real centrepiece around which this brilliantly crafted film rotates. I haven't seen a sharper or more satirical movie about British family life than this. Leigh at his best.

This is by far the best film about football hooligans in my opinion. Although in a lot of parts you don't get to see the actual violence you know whats happening and its the power of the story that grips you. The charactors are really well developed and you feel like you know them by the end of the movie. I'd recommend this movie to anyone.

In "Almost Strangers," Stephen Poliakoff weaves a subtle spell. I recall thoroughly enjoying the engaging story and the superb acting--after all, one cannot miss with Michael Gambon, Matthew Macfadyen, and Toby Stephens--when, totally unawares, I had become so entranced with the stories within the story of an extended family, that I had to watch all 237 minutes of it at one sitting.

Since the story is told from the point of view of Daniel (the son of the black sheep of the clan), who knows very little about the rest of the family, the viewer is put into a similar position, first of discomfort, as he confronts the stereotypes concomittant with meeting strangers, and finally of fascinated affection, as he slowly unravels the startling ... This is the fourth collaboration between Johnny Depp and Tim Burton I have seen (the previous three being Sweeney Todd, the Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands) and I can say without an instance's doubt that it is easily the worst of the four. In fact, if it were not for Johnny Depp, then I would have stopped watching half an hour in to this poor excuse for a film.

Lets me quickly outline the plot. Constable Ichabod Crane (Depp) has been called to the town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate the unusual murders of certain town folk, where they have had their head cut clean from their body. The town widely believe that the murders are being carried out by a headless horseman, but Crane is doubtful and wants to investigate further.
