This is the only version of Pride and Prejudice worth watching so far, and I can't imagine it being bettered. The casting of the actors is perfect, the writing is as true to the book as is possible and it has been immaculately researched, resulting in excellent, believable sets and locations. Don't waste your money on Hollywood productions. This is produced by Sue Birtwhistle, also responsible for Cranford. That should say it all.

I've read the book "Wuthering Heights" many times and it's my favorite love story, so passionate and real. So I wanted to see an appropriate film version to this wonderful book. And I must admit, that this film completely catches the spirit and atmosphere of the book. I think it's very difficult to play the leading roles, especially the complicated Heathcliff's charachter. It's very hard not to make Heathcliff too human and otherwise not too savage. He is not a romantic hero and it's hard to show his vulnerability and passionate love for Catherine and his dark, cruel and vengeful nature at the same time. But I was pleasingly surprised. Robert Cavanah unbelievably well plays this role and the other actors are really good too. This film is really ... Read More:

DVD : Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Im only 17years old and i am obsessed with Jane Austen! Ive watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice as it's my favourite of the Austen collection. I think Keira was better for the character Elizabeth Bennet for certain, but i think Colin firth was amazing at playing darcey as i find him so sexy, but Matthew Macfadyen created more chemistry between them both! I think in the newer version you can see the tension between them both all the time and your just shouting at the tv coz you get frustrated at them both. I think the newer version is sooo much better without a doubt, but the older one if still very good. Id personally prefer the newer one!!!!!

This was transmitted in two parts in England in 2006 and was one of the television highlights of the year.

The basic plot is the re-appearance of a British submarine that was lost and sunk in World War 2, the only survivor is recruited by the admiralty to attempt to discover what happened to the rest of the crew and how the submarine resurfaced. After boarding the sub the investigation team begin to take on characteristics of the original crew and their ultra secret mission, to destroy a top secret target in Russia and set sail to complete this task that was set in motion 65 years previously.

The drama is a mix of a ghost story coupled with science fiction and is very reminiscent of Sapphire and Steel in dealing with the ... Read More:

If you think I am going to pay nearly thirty pounds for a DVD you must be joking. It does not matter how good it is, no DVD is worth such a high price.

There are many good productions of Wuthering Heights and this one is no better or worse. Those asking such high prices should be ashamed of themselves and anyone paying such a high price for this DVD needs a reality check.

I got this item with some trepidation in view of an earlier reviewer's comments on the picture quality, but was pleasantly surprised when there didn't seem to be any significant difference in same between this entry and others in the series. I don't know the history of this series but bear in mind that if it originated on TV, it's original aspect ratio was undoubtedly 4x3. Had it been "converted" to a 16x9 ratio, this would likely have been accomplished by loping off the top and bottom of the picture, as is so frequently done elsewhere. No thanks, I'll take the 4x3 ratio please, and keep all the picture!
