Good abracadabra movie... Interesting story, strong cast, moving performances and intricate plot make it highly watchable. It's like riding a roller coaster through an out-of-the-world backdrop. The treat of David Bowie is great. He's the real wizard here. Bale and Jackman deliver top notch performances too. The period is recreated nicely. Although, the forefront of the story is the never-ending rivalry between two aspiring albeit cunning magicians, it is about the consuming nature of envy and revenge. The final payoff of the film is two "big secrets" (somewhat forced though) which unravel at the very final moments.

But, for a movie about love, obsession, revenge, deception and self-absorption, it is remarkably lack of passion. ... Read More:

I fully enjoyed this series. It was very well written, and I really liked the story of Andy Millman,a man who dreams of hitting the big time,as a full time actor. However,he has a useless agent that can only get him extra work. What's so good about it,is the effort he puts in to try and get noticed. As always though, just when he thinks he's done it,a major disaster blows up in his face, instantly shattering his dreams. So,its back to square one as a lowly extra. Its good to see some major stars in the show, constantly being asked by Andy, desperate to get the big break. Its hilarious, and I fully recommend it!

This film is truly amazing. It may only appeal to people with a certain sense of humour, but I must be one of those people as I almost split my sides laughing. I was still randomly saying quotes from Zoolander about a month after I'd seen it!
As usual, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson make a brilliant partnership; they have a similar sense of humour so you can see that they are really enjoying making the film.
This may not be the classic, thoughtful and deep film that some people want to see but in my eyes it is the best film I have ever seen, and would be perfect for a fun night in or sleepover.

This must be one of the most talented line-ups to ever create what is ostensibly a children's film, with George Lucas exec-producing, Terry Jones (the former Python) writing, David Bowie starring and contributing songs, Jim Henson creating puppets and directing. (Danny Joyce Jules, later "Cat" in Red Dwarf, is also one of the voice artists). Unlike most supergroups this collective do not disappoint, as Labyrinth is one of the finest ever children's stories, fit to be mentioned along with "Alice In Wonderland". And like the Alice books, this can be enjoyed by adults too, providing they have not lost their sense of fun and wonder. (14-16 year-olds however will often find this too childish).

In the film the initially whiny early teen Sarah ... Read More:

This film is an all time great, the songs, the story, the puppets and David Bowie make this movie a complete gem. If you dont already have it then i ORDER you to buy it now lol. Seriously though, there are few movies as much fun as Labyrinth and as memorable too. It really is a must have for any Henson fans who love puppets instead of computer special effects. All the actors in this are fantastic and for me this reminds me of my childhood.

Just a fantasti adventure for kids and adults!

This is an awful, awful film. The plot is pathetic and makes no sense. In fact it annoyed me whilst watching it because it was so bad. Even my 7 year old got bored and started asking questions about why he was doing this and that. (Arthur that is).

The only good thing about this film is The child actor who plays Arthur who is brilliant and stars in the Spiderwick Chronicles, which is a fantastic film and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breathe as this drivel.

I was tempted to ask for my money back at the end. Don't buy this film don't even watch it when it comes on TV. I'd rather watch ten back to back episodes of The One Show than watch this again, and that's saying something. You've been warned.

I quite like this movie. It's not one I'd recommend to my friends, but it's the first directorial effort of Tony Scott so it's worth a look to see how he cut his teeth. For the most part it's a case of style over substance, all billowing net curtains and slightly open blinds letting in the light. David Bowie is perfectly cast as an ageing vampire, while Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon smoulder in their lusting performances. It is dull in parts and some of it has dated badly, but it's still a good yarn, and you just don't get too many flicks like this one.

This is a brilliant but nightmarish film.Based on a sequence of articles by two German journalists, later made into a book,it shows the decline of a teenage girl as she enters the drug subculture of West Berlin in the 1970s.The actors are mainly amateurs, but they come up with impressive performances.
The soundtrack by David Bowie(who lived in Berlin in the late 1970s)is great, with the jolly, optimistic sound of "Heroes" at the start, then,as the film goes on,being replaced by the eerie electronic sounds of the "Low" and "Heroes" albums. His own cameo performing a fine rendition of "Station to Station"is worth a watch too.
If you have teenage children,it will be your worst nightmare come true, but you may find they enjoy it too(my 17 year old neice thought it was great).

what I could never figure out is that he could replicate anything many times over as is exemplified via his many wedding rings... So why didn't the authorities on his own planet say, "Ooh look, the water's running out. Shall we replicate some more or what?" Oh no, stop mythering, it'll be alright......?
