Series five of peep show continues on from where series four left off and builds the story nicely but at the same time there is a wee drop in form here that means the show loses its consistency for perhaps the very first time. The series starts well but falls a little with a puerile feel to it at times that beggars the belief that is a brilliantly written show,some of this feels wrong,the episode with the australian lodger being average to say the least,the laughs are still here and there but not everywhere,and that again is a new development. The story arc here is good though and of the six episodes i would state that 4 are still gold with two maybe drowning in childish antics that arent worthy of these two great characters,still ... I'm not one for hyperbole but I'd be hard pressed to think of a better sit com in the canon of British comedy. You heard me! Peep Show has earned its place on the vaunted Brit Com pedestal along with Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and Only Fools and Horses. Shameless, profane, irreverent, endlessly quotable and accutely observed the quirky characters and brilliantly surreal dialogue very quickly transcend being merely funny and become hugely endearing. As with all great comedy there are great moments of human drama in these five amazing series and the acting throughout is simply perfect. I dearly love Peep Show and I'm quite certain that you will too should you ever come into contact with it!

This was recommended for me by amazon as i am addicted to David Tennant and after reading all the recommendations was really tempted to buy it. then it was repeated on BBC4 and although i only got to watch the last 4 episodes, the only thing that stopped me from buying the series straight away was the fact that i had no money i cannot praise the actors enough. an amazing show.

Sketch shows have a rich British tradition, The Fast Show, Harry Enfield And Chums, dating all the way back to Monty Python. However, first season aside, Little Britain heralded a different brand of sketch show, a lowest-common-denominator, catchphrase-and-gross-out based style. This predictability removes the one thing which made shows like Monty Python in particular great, namely the unpredictability. The whole point of a sketch show isn't to have recurring characters every week, but to just spent a couple of minutes in each little world and then move onto something totally different. I would like to say that this film was brillient (excuse my spelling). The tudors which is out at the moment is rubbish. at least this film has kept to the facts.

Simply some of the best comedy writing of the last ten years. I think this is the only sitcom DVD I've ever watched more than once - I've watched this again and again. Can't recommend highly enough!

I first saw this film on a scruffy old VHS tape borrowed from a friend. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up watching it twice on the first day, and buying the DVD shortly afterwards. I rank this in the same league as Blade Runner. I haven't seen the directors cut yet, but I'm willing to buy it just for the extra 11 minutes, let alone the commentaries. One of those films you watch again and again. Far, far better than the matrix.
