Released in time for the recent Olympic games driven focus on China,or is this too cynical an interpretation? The cartoon has a storyline we have seen lots and lots of times before-"hopeless looser who dreams of glory, gets his big chance and after some difficulty reveals true ability".How many times can this theme be recycled, before we say STOP-enough.So,in this cartoon, instead of a boxer;dancer;singer;karate kid;ogre;surfing penguin or whatever,we have a panda bear and other assorted animals in the usual roles. The story is entirely linear, predictable, with little new to say.The "jokes" are lame, and the baddie gets his just desserts .If you have limited funds to spend on animation films, then give this one a miss, and see it on TV for free.

This film has a suprising amount of A-list actors in it and deserves more recognition I think. Robert DeNiro plays his role as Father Bobby exceptionally well and Brad Pitt and Kevin Bacon also provide good performances. Essentially great injustices are done and finally righted with sweet revenge, the interplay of all the characters as this story of revenge unfolds is at least partly what makes it such a good movie.

I watched this without blinking...an amazing movie...most of us wouldnt have had the guts to investigate something like this. We just assume that people in power must be moral and right. This film motivated me to read about Richard Nixon's presidency (and his advisors like Kissinger) - these men should never have been allowed to such powerful positions because frankly (read Robert Dallek's book) they were psychotic. Sad and scary. Thanks for bringing this alive in this movie. Excellent.

Here again we see Satans felcher Tom Cruise playing a handicapped character looking after unorthodox genius Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman steals the show with his approach to his character's quirky nature, whereas Cruise just fluffs it all up with weak and insensitive portrayal of a shallow and vacous differently special person. Again, what with the subject matter of the film, it is unlikely that Cruise's character will have a death scene owing to the schmaltz factor inherent with these kind of films. Still, if it makes money. Notice the size of Cruise face in relation to the quality of the film? An oscar for Hoffman and yet again no awards for Tom Cruise and his very poor ability to pretend that the situation he is in is real. Story is okay, camera cuts a little bit amateur ... Read More:

This is one of the best movies I saw last year. It's clever, funny and well put together. Will Ferrell sidesteps his usual more straight-forward choice of comic role (think Talladega nights, Blades of Glory, Old School) and becomes Harrold Crick the obsessive compulsive mega-intelligent but socially inept taxman whose life (and the laws of the universe) start to fall down around his ears. Howard starts hearing voices in his head - a voice to be more specific - that of a commentator - talking about what he's doing, as he does it. At first it drives him mad, and then starts to scare him as he wonders who is calling the shots - him or the voice? The subsequent drama and ever complicating plot become hilarious, sad and slightly worrying. Everytime you think you have it worked ... Read More:

Overwrought, over intense, over squalid psychological drama about two convicts coming to terms with their sentence on a harsh island penal colony. Pretentious, a bit pointless, and not at all where cinema should be directing its energy. It comes from a little 3 or 4 year period where films of this type became fashionable with directors, though god knows why.

Let me make this clear first. I didn't watch this film with any children, nor am I some sort of child in a mans body. I'm a lover of movies that seek to entertain, inspire and teach. Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium does all three and the supporting cast to Dustin Hoffman really make this movie work.

Dustin Hoffman plays the eccentric toy shop owner who's over 240 years old and a believer in magic. One day he tells his dependable shop manager, Mahoney played by Natalie Portman that he's "Leaving." Firstly he must hire an accountant who we come to know solely as Mutant played by Jason Bateman to sort out all his paperwork, all 240 years worth. This becomes a story of friendship, love, belief and living life to the full to achieve all you wanted to achieve.

This film is an insult to the British. A terrible performance by Dustin Hoffman, one of Hollywood's "got lucky" boys. If he wants to ham it up, the local Pantomime would be more appropriate. I can't believe Speilberg did this. A complete waste of money and Bob Hoskins. A lifelong fan of Julia Roberts, I can't see any point in casting her. Surely Roberts and Hoskins must cringe at showings of this crass presentation. As for Dustin Hoffman, bring back Mrs. Robinson, he needs some more luck.

I stumbled upon this film about half way through on Sky HD and was mesmorised throughout the remainder of it !This is the most captivating ,mesmorising film i have ever watched and i LOVED it!The scene when he goes to be executed and instead unleashes the worlds most perfect perfume on the crowd who hail him as an "angel" was one of the most electrifiying moments i have ever witnessed! The hairs on my arms actually raised as the scene unfolded! I absolutely recommend this film to be viewed in HD as it really compliments EVERY aspect of the film- makers skill and let yourself really get into it and it will stay with you forever!! Congragulations to everyone involved in its making !
