Just purchased this from amazon. watched it today. all i can say is WOW. love the film. There are a few Hollywood style scenes in the film but look past it, great entertainment. You will not regreat buying and watching the film!!! Mishal

Gladiator it isn't but it's still well worth a look. This extended version is much better than the original since it fills in so many of the blanks. The picture is top knotch along with the sound. I know it would have been silly, but I wish Liam Neeson had swapped roles with Orlando Broom! Stick a beard on him and it would have worked, lol.

LOVED THE CINEMA VERSION ,BOUGHT THE DVD AND THEN LATER FOUND (only at amazon)THE 4 DISC VERSION , WHICH BECOMES IN THE 2ND HALF OF THE FILM (second dvd )a totally different film with a personage i won't reveal - not to be seen in the other versions,MUCH MORE ENTERTAINING WHEN YOU LOVE THIS KIND OF FILMS LIKE I DO,BEST VERSION OFF ALL AND NOT SO PREDICTABLE AS THE CINEMA VERSION , WELL WORTH THE MONEY !!

Eva Marton is wonderful in the title role, both in acting and singing. Particulary in act 2 scene 2, where she subtly conveys the reactions she recalls in act 3. Watch her face when Calaf tries to kiss the hem of her robe. Placido Domingo is also effective, showing Calaf's arrogance and selfishness convincingly. Leona Mitchell is heartbreaking as Liu, her unrequited devotion shining through in her voice and acting. The Mandarin makes the most of his moment, turning what is basically plot exposition into a rabble rousing speech designed to fire up the peasants while the Emperor is portrayed as being weighed down by guilt at allowing Turandot to make her terrible bargain. This is a truly beautiful production with a traditional setting. Casilly is a good Tannhauser. His opening aria, sung in the venusberg, is satisfactory, if lacking in power. Troyanos, as Venus, is very good indeed. Elizabeth is superb but it is the scenery and production values generally. This Paris edition of Tannhauser is everything I want it to be and doesn't disappoint. The ballet at the opening of the opera is fantastic, really first rate stuff. Don't hesitate to buy it.

This is a fantastic umd if you have a psp this is a must.the graphics are amazing [but you will have to get a better memory card to make it run well] .orlando bloom is a fantastic actor and the battle sequences are to die for [ not literly] i will tell you the goods and bads . the goods .amazing acting . amzing graphics .amazing battle squences .the bads . will require a 216 mb memory stick which will cost you around 50 pounds but when you have got it it will work for all your movies .thats all its brilliant

A very good film indeed,set in Jerusalem in medieval times.There are knights(some good and some bad);moors(some good and some bad);and a lengthy cast of historical figures .The set piece battles are stupendous.Clearly Ridley Scott has a tremendous talent for developing and bringing together enormous armies(who can forget the opening battle in Gladiator?).The story is weakened by the unfortunate casting decision to make Orlando Bloom the main character.Gladiator succeeded in no small part due to the casting of a man's man as Maximus.
