This is yet another DVD that I bought to fill out my collection (mostly because I already own all the other CSI boxsets) and yet again I wasn't disappointed. This set includes some of the best episodes so far in the CSI history, although sometimes it does focus slightly too much on the minor characters. Having said that, it has made me appreciate Hodges and his sarcasm that little bit more...

If you like crime shows, working out who did it, character led action, great acting, interesting characters and fancy american shows then start from series one, sit down with an IV drip, a potty for your doings and a big load of haribo and watch straight through to this series. It's fanciful, it's fun, it's big and it's good. I wouldn't recommend it if you hate all of the above. But then you're not worth recommending anything to anyway.
Oh, and P.S. it's not 24

Season 8 of CSI picks up directly where Season 7 concluded, with Sara Sidle trapped under a car in the Nevada Dessert, making for a thrilling season opener. The second episode features the team coming to grips with Grissom and Sara's relationship, however not such a good episode in my opinion. Ep 3, "From Hell", is another strange yet brilliant episode. Ep 4 follows the story of a boy found hanging off a tree with mutilated breasts. Episode five, even though it lacks Grissom, is fantastic. Ep 6 is a fantastic crossover with "Without a Trace". Episode seven, we bid farewell to Sara. Episode 8 is a funny episode focusing on the lab rats once again. Episode nine sees Warrick framed for murder. Episode 10 sees illegal dog fighting. A man is killed by a bull ... Read More:

Yet another fantastic installment of the best show on TV.

The normal character's, Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, Sarah Sidle, Warwick Brown, Nick Stokes, Greg Sanders, Jim Brass and Dr Robbins are back and in about episode seven (I think) we see a someone from the day shift become more involved with the closely-knit night team. She is not made very welcome by the team but she still remains part of the team (as we can see from season six, currently showing on TV).

This set of episodes gives us brilliant science and also further insight into the CSI's. Catherine is having trouble with her daughter Lyndsey and Greg is tested in his ambitions to get away from the DNA Lab and into the field - things don't always run smoothly.

This Season is a return to the superior entertainment of Seasons 1 and 2 (I thought Season 3 was only 'OK', with too many below-par episodes).

The scripts have more of a bias towards the CSI team as personalities and, most importantly, the crime plots are once again superior to anything else on TV; the best example in Part 1 being 'Jackpot'.

One factor of the DVDs which continues to be a disappointment are the episode commentaries, they are without exception awful. Rather than give interesting insights into the episode production, there is too much friendly chit-chat between the contributors and way too much time spent saying how good someone was or what a great job so-and-so did.

I think if a commentary was done by, ... Read More:

Now, firstly I'm going to say that these two episodes are great, but why buy this DVD, these episodes are includes in Season 5 (either the 5.2 or the complete season 5 DVD), don't waste your money on two episodes!

This is not a shoot-em-up Western. If that is what you are after, stop reading right here. What this is, is a real heartfelt tribute to the cowboy. The genuine article cowboy. In particular, it charts a group of cowboys through the decline of the golden age of the cowboy, near the end of the 19th Century. Almost the whole of the first half of the movie, there is no plot to speak of, just character exposition building up the picture of the life and character that these men had. Nothing is rushed, and yet it is never dull, thanks to an intelligent script. There are humorous moments and great lines, but plenty of pathos and melancholy too, as the characters all deal with the end of an era in their own ways. We see the cowboy-turned-outlaw, the cowboy-turned-storekeeper, ... Read More:
