This film is boring and badly acted especially by Miss Knighty. The story not clear and missing vital information from the book well not so much missing but not making it clear.

I looked forward to taking my wife to this and wished I had not it was truly truly bad. She like myself had read the book at some time but seriously felt let down.

Would not recommend at all, stay at home with your feet up and watch paint drying its more fun honest!

Brilliant drama! Pity it has no English subtitles. Sometimes, the accent from Newcastle is a little difficult to understand!

If you have issues with your dad then this film may make you want to do something about it! I would not call the film a real weepy but it should make you shed tear if you are half human!! A good watch recommended

Having enjoyed the first series of the street I was very pleased that a second series was made and again it was brilliant.Outstanding acting in every episode from some of Britain's best actors and actresses.
The storylines are very gritty and emotional at times and I must say that they not what you would call over the top.Very believable and overall I think this is what great television is all about.Recommended.

Having read the book, I wondered how this would translate to film. I've got to say that it far surpassed my expectations. This film is a showcase for the HDDVD format, it looks fabulous on a large HD TV. From the opening scenes in the house and gardens to the chaos of the wartime beach, it never fails to impress. I'm shocked at some of the reviews; I found it gripping from beginning to end, and visually stunning. My copy cost about a fiver: a bargain if there ever was one.

A truly terrible film. I still watched it to the end in the same way people watch the wreckage from car accidents. It was un-intentionaly funny, it has the same other worldly view of London that Notting Hill had. The only people i really had any time for were the old couple. All the rest i couldnt care less for. Bunch of pretentious idiots.
That annoying young bloke chatting-up anything that moves, where was his accent from? Ewan mcgregor playing a North London gay, how obvious. The couple being ever so nice and relaxed about their imminent divorce, is that for real?
Basicly i cant understand what the films about, apart from saying; Come up to Hampstead Heath in the summer! its really nice, you may find the odd gay hanging around in the bushes, ... Read More:

I don't mind arty films if there's decent writing too..but this film was just producation design and creative CGI. Very original looking, but not enough to hold your attention past half an hour, which is when I gave up. I think art and film students would get something from it, but that's it.
Disappointed.

The Forsyte Saga is so much more than just a period drama- it encapsulates a bygone time in its sweeping satire of Victorian family life and class values.

The plot focuses on the two conflicting sides of the Forsyte family, the children of elderly brothers James and Jolyon. Firstly, we have the open-minded but principled Jolyon Jnr (Graves). Having married a woman he did not love, Jolyon finds himself falling for Helene Hilner, his young daughter June's governess. When he commits the then scandalous act of leaving his wife for Helene, Jolyon is cut off by his father, Jolyon Snr (a perfectly cast Corrin Redgrave), and the rest of the family. Jolyon sets out to make a living with his artistic talents while he and Helene have two children, Holly and Joly. Years ... Read More:

A film about football is quite commonplace. A film about young boys who want to become VIPs in life is also quite banal. But a young boy who wants to become a star in Manchester United is as brilliant as a blue sky and as pure as white snow, and there can only be one out of a great number of candidates. Jimmy Grimble had everything against him. His unmarried mother with short-term manfriends was not a comfortable family situation. He was the victim of the bullies at his comprehensive school and one of the bullies was the son of the rich tycoon who was going to invest a lot of money to build a new gym for the school. The girl he likes, more or less, at least he would like to make friends with, is a pugilist and she does not like football. The only manfriend of her mother's ... Read More:

Understanding one's parent is a difficult issue but one has to do it because it tells you much about yourself. I could sympatize very much with the basic story as I "discover" as well secrets about my parents which helped me to understand them better. But this is as well a movie about friendship, friendship which last a life time and friends who are there and act in the most difficult of times. But it is not a sad or too deep a movie. There is enough to lighten it up, but the message does not get lost. I enjoyed it very much!!

But I have to admit as much as I love Maggie Smith she is not right in the role of a Southern American. She is simply too British for this.

Otherwise an enjoyable movie.
