Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pavarotti and Riciarelli shine in lacklustre Met production.

Apart from the presence of Pavarotti and Riciarelli this is rather a "B" team affair from the Met conducted by Giuseppe Patane, with uninspiring stage sets.

Therefore ones whole focus is Pavarotti as Riccardo (this is the Boston version) and Katia Riciarelli who are in superb vocal form dominating everything. The second act duet is magical, obviously leaving the singers physically drained and leaning against each other for support, it is worth buying the set for this duet alone.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Thoroughly well done in every respect
Gorgeous music, conducted beautifully by James Levine, sung flawlessly by Pavarotti and Katia Ricciarelli in their prime, with costumes and sets and everything else as well very much up to the up to the mark.
Un Ballo is one of Verid's masterpieces and this is a great introduction to it, if you have not seen it live.
The interviews with the principals, as the bonus feature, were very good as well
