This was much better than I thought it would be having read that the story didn't hold together and wasn't based on any real fact. If it was intended as a love story then it's ok. Are biographical films ever based truly on reality? Julie Walters is excellent as Jane's mother and thanks to another reviewer for mentioning where I'd seen Anne Hathaway before.

I'm not keen on Jane Austen's novels (forced to read them at school), except perhaps, "Northanger Abbey", for which the recent TV adaptation was excellent. "Becoming Jane" has more depth than was portrayed in the poor cinema trailer. It's not as good as say, "Miss Potter" but worth a watch on a rainy Sunday evening.

As you can tell from the other people's reviews this movie is brilliant!!
But what is not said (at least I don't think so! I didd'nt read all 100+ reviews!) is the picture quality! i'm using a Toshiba 47" 1080i LCD HDTV with a PlayStation3 with HDMI connection.

For a DVD it's got AMAZING detail! I'm surprised they managed to fit this 3 hour film with this quality onto a DVD!! I have a collection of around 500 DVDs & this must be in the top 5 of best picture quality in my selection!

Buy it! you won't regret it! (or wait for the Blu-ray)

This is a superb movie, and to have it in blu-ray enhances the experience by a mile! You can 100% see the difference in quality, (same quality as i am legend and casino royale etc). I thought that this movie would have slightly less quality because it was filmed earlier than others, but no! Absolutely the same superb quality from blu-ray. Loving in! One to buy!

This is one of my favourite horse films, I absolutely adore it and you will too. The animation is perfect and for once the horses don't talk. Have you ever noticed but most animals seem to talk or sing in animated films but not this one. You can still tell what the horses were feeling or saying. Spirit has eyebrows so you can tell what mood he was in. You could even guess what he was saying when he neighed e.g. when Spirit is captured his mother comes down to rescue him but Spirit neighs. It sounded more like a roar but I could almost imagine what he was saying. 'NO! STOP! What is the story - Spirit is a wild young mustang but when he is captured his life is turned upside down. He befriends an Indian and falls in love with a paint mare. But he is far away ... Read More:

I simply cannot believe that anyone can sit through this film and come out at the end having enjoyed it. When I saw the cast I thought I was in for a treat - I though wrong. This has to be, without a doubt, the WORST film I have ever seen. It is all so unbelievable. A complete waste of 6 hours of my life.

I remember watching this film when i was growing up and decided to have a flashback so i went online to buy this little beutie of a film.

I forgot how much i loved the character of Farmer hogget, amazingly played and he makes me feel all warm inside, wish he was my grandad :P

and who could forget about those cheerful little mice as a nice little extra.

I persoanlly think this is an amazing film that even adults can enjoy. Truely one of the classic family films that makes you feel all happy :D

I originally had no intentions of watching this film let alone buying it, but then I got curious, so I picked it up for a couple of pounds.

I'm very pleased that I did, I think this gives a very good account of what happened or what may have happened in the aftermath of the death of Princess Diana.

There are excellent portrayals of The Queen (Dame Helen Mirren), Prince Phillip (James Cromwell) and Tony Blair (Michael Sheen), strangely enough there is very little screen time given to Prince Charles, which I found a little strange.

I was never a great fan of Princess Diana, nor for that matter Tony Blair, although it does not harp on about how "wonderful" Princess Diana was, it does grind on me a bit how much they appear to credit ... Read More:

Curtis Hanson has managed to direct a film which captures the late 1940's in both style and spirit. Often films depicting the glamourous side of this era immerse themselves too much in the styles and fashions of the time, rendering the actual characters superfluous to the movie. Not here though - the characters drive the film, blending in perfectly with the directing style swaying effortlessly to capture the gritty and the classic-Hollywoodesque, the guy has done his homework.

Risks were taken by casting relatively unknown non-Americans in the two major roles, a rare thing by a Hollywood studio. It's hard to imagine anyone else but Russell Crowe as the fiery `Bud' and at times Guy Pierce seems a bit awkward as `Exley' - but this isn't a flaw in his acting, this is him bringing ... The reason I wanted to see this film was the confrontation between Peter and his friend Harry who becomes the green goblin in his fathers place, but it was over in five minutes at the beginning. After that I was hoping that venom would be better however, what the hell!! This film suffers terribly with too many villains, messy script and it seemed that everything was being crammed in. The special effects were brilliant, but that's it. Tobey Maguire being evil was actually comical, especially when he was strutting down the street. But I was so dissapointed with this installment. It gave me such a headache.Overall wouldn't get this, even if they sold it for a quid!!
