I'm almost embarrassed that I thought it was good when I was a kid. Because I was too young to understand the bad points and let's face it, we don't have high demands of quality when we are young. I thought power rangers had good acting then... riiight moving swiftly on.

Anyway I watched it again a year or so ago when it was on TV and realised just how innocent I must have been.

Not only is this film crap, but its pro American theme that is used to carry the story really made me cringe... HARD.

Its like a serious version of Team America. I'm sure the point of this was to have Americans coming out of the "Movie Theatre" (Cinema to you and I) jumping up and down with their lassoes screaming YEAH!!! YEAH!!!. ... Read More:

I already owned this film on DVD and loved it. I bought the Blue-ray edition to get even more out of such a great film. What Amazon don't tell u is that this edition is an edited version which in reality is 9 minutes shorter than my DVD version. My one star rating is purely based on another money spinning project....... no doubt in a year or so we'll get the Blue-ray Directors cut coming out. Unfortunately for me i couldn't return it as I never watched it as soon as it arrived.

The collection comes in a regular 4-DVD box, rather than the nice fold-out sleeve pictured, which seems a bit of a cop-out on the presentation front.

Content extrmely good, as we know, the films are great entertainment, and the extras aren't half-bad either. The film quality is better than mentioned by one of the other reviews, looking particularly good on a sharp LCD screen. Don't expect it to perform on HD, but that's the beauty of those new TVs, they make your old films look worse so you buy them again...a lovely bit of self-marketing. In short, if you have a regular telly, don't worry about the picture quality, it looks just as you'd expect it to.

Well worth a purchase if you don't have these films.

Two thumbs up.

Not as good as Wes Anderson's other films. I bought this because I enjoyed his other films. I'd suggest that you rent it before you buy it.

I'm not religious in any sense of the word, so my review will be based purely on the film placed in front of me, and not on any historical innacuracies and deviances from the actual story, or any religious implications in the film.

I was blown away by this film to be honest. The story, the voice acting, the animation, it was all faultless, and though the songs took a bit of getting used to (they didn't seem to have that sweet, flowing quality I was used to seeing in most cartoon musicals) the soundtrack fits the film incredibly well, with the obvious standout song of 'there can be miracles' made famous by Mariah carey and whitney Houston. One fault I did have however was the script, which at times felt slightly awkward, but the voice actors did the best ... Read More:

I recently saw the re-make of this film starring Nicole Kidman, which was not as bad as reviewers would have you believe, but in comparison to this masterpeice of horror, starring Donald Sutherland, really is trash.

The paranoia and suspension in the film are captured particularly well. The horror is created, not by gore and sharp shocks, but by the constant atmosphere of things going wrong and the sense of impending doom. Donald Sutherland acts particularly well and you feel his struggle to escape to the bitter end.

The final scene is probably one of the finest ever captured by film, but be warned, it will not make you feel good.

Absolutely wonderful. A cinematic masterpiece

Without a doubt, 2001 was a year filled with rising stars, surprise box office hits, good movies and trends, which go against the norm. "Cats & Dogs" is the latest to join an elite list including "Atlantis: The Lost Empire," "Dr. Dolittle 2," "Spy Kids," "See Spot Run" and "Shrek;" proves family oriented films will entertain all ages.

"Cats & Dogs" is one of the most unique adventure films I have seen because it combines humor, intelligence and the technical savvy to call itself a box-office hit. Additionally, the special effects are truly spectacular to watch and will leave everyone smiling in amazement asking the question; how did they do that? The combination of live actors with voices of actors with incredible special effects immediately elevated "Cats & Dogs" to ... Read More:

I had high expectations for this film, due to the plot and positive reviews. Sadly it's one of the first films I've watched in a long time that I had to turn of after 30 minutes. The pace was slow, it seemed (very) dated, and I didn't connect with the characters (and I like all other films I've seen Kevin Kline and William Hurt in). I love other character driven films like "The Breakfeast Club", but this was just far below what I expected.

The film that started it all finally released uncut and uncensored. Although I prefer the sequel, this is the best DEATH WISH from an objective point of view. It's depiction of a "bleeding heart liberal" turning vigilante was rarely done this well. The "action" scenes are short but effective since this isn't a Rambo-style shoot 'em up like parts 3 & 4 have become, although they look a little "staged" and unrealistic. And if you look at Winner's later works (namely "Dirty Weekend") you can see the exact same choreography again. HOWEVER DEATH WISH IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST FILMS OF THE 70'S AND TOTALLY UNDERRATED, leaving little to complain about. Bronson's actions - as lawless as they might be - are believable and you're with him 100 % (and if not, you're in the wrong section anyway, go check ... Read More:
