A Very good film but like other reviewers have said the advertising campaign, even the cover art are and were very misleading making you think that this would be a fantasy film full of strange creatures, magic and fairy dust. It is not that at all but rather an emotional tale depicting the friendship and bond between 2 children and the imaginary world in which they create, along with dangerous imaginary creatures and some good sfx when they are used. However the real danger is not something imaginary or mythical and the circumstances shown are very sad- although a bit abrupt and mis-jointed. May be a bit upsetting for younger viewers, and it probably won't hold their attention for very long as there are no fairy tale creatures, ... Read More:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! Probably the best movie I EVER watched, loads of funny bits, including buisness with dumping sewage, the RV saying "Rent Me!" on the side, getting stuck on a mountain of rock, rv rolling into the lake, running over cars, red "bus" with musical horn etc etc. if you're interested in funny movies this is a MUST. BUY NOW

When I saw the film I thought wait a minute, this is just like Jumanji albeit on a much smaller budget and without a big Hollywood name. So it all made sense when I read that this film was based on a book by the same author. If you haven't seen Jumanji then this film is worth watching. Otherwise don't waste your money coz its more of the same but without the expensive special effects.

When i first told my mom about this film in the summer of 2006, i was totally adament that once it was out in the UK i would get it. Since then i had forgotten all about it! And if i hadn't gone into our local video store a few days ago, i still wouldn't have remembered it; But boy, am i glad i found it. I watched it and found it completley wonderful! It was so well done and very observed about love! when Gabe starts a karate lesson he becomes friends with Rosemary Telesco, who hes known since kindergarten. They get on famously, and Gabe completley falls for her. But she is going to camp in a week for 6 weeks, and Gabe feels like his heart has been ripped out. To be honest I cannot imagine pictures looking any better, the clarity is amazing. The extras are so so, nothing that will get anyone majorly excited. As for the film, I was disapointed, it had been advertised as a childrens fantasy a la harry potter. Not so, in fact apart from a few moments when the childrens imaginations are visualized on screen there is scarcely any fantasy elements. That aside it is still a pretty good movie, it just wasn't what I expected. If I were to liken it to any other movie it would have to be my girl. The story is about two children who are bullied becoming friends and an sharing thier imaginary would as an escape from the drudgery of real life, and how real life gets in the way.
