I have a confession to make: I didn't really enjoy Pretty Woman that much, and Four Weddings and a Funeral (not to mention Mickey Blue Eyes, Two Weeks Notice and About a Boy) didn't really do it for me.

However, in Notting Hill, as far as I am concerned, everything comes together for Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, delivering a landmark in the gentle countryside of romantic comedy.

This is not the only time that Julia Roberts plays a version of herself -- she knowingly sends herself up in Ocean's Twelve. And this is not the only time Hugh Grant has played this particular character -- heck, it's the good-natured but over-witty English fopp he always plays. But the pairing of these two well-honed characters is exactly right ... Read More:

Although I already knew about US involvement in the covert war, it was interesting to see it splashed onto screen - not sure how the US Govt feel about it as it shows them being dragged into helping via Wilson, et al, rather than being proactive about it! The cast do a great job at getting into the skin of the characters they portray. I feel the film portray's Wilson's frustrations very well. Having rented the film, it is one I do feel I would buy. However - along with several comments here - that UNICEF advert at the beginning is incredibly annnoying. Was staggered that could not fast forward it, skip it, or get to the Menu. Never come across that before and it really wound me up as had to endure it. More likely to contrbute to UNICEF as a result? ... Read More:

The thing is,when you give reviews on a thing. You can only ever give a true account,as you see a thing yourself. This will be 7 times I have bought this DVD,as the first 6 were gifts, and I never got any complaints back from them. I notice that a few who have reviewed this DVD,have had a problem with the actors,(how they sound,or how they put it over). Well I can understand that,in a way.But if you can manage to look beyond all that, you will be able to enjoy a piece of Irelands history. I think it's a masterpiece on film, for those who can't find the time to read a book, and there are some good books out there on the subject. I remember the film,(The Vikings)where all the actors had an American Twang),but it managed to break the box office. So I will Say (You ... Read More:

I've always loved this film, I had it on tape for years. It's a great story, intelligent, with superb acting. Other reviews say it all

What did annoy me was that the DVD is two-sided. You have to watch half the film, then turn the DVD over to watch the other half. This isn't going to be enough to irritate everybody but it really irrited me, and I really wouldn't have bought it if I'd known about the format.

I'm the lazy type who likes to settle down, surrounded by food, and not get up again until the film is finished and there's no food left. Like I said, not going to bother everybody but still worth knowing.

Season 8 of Seinfeld immediately follows on from the story at the end of the previous season finale, where George's fiance Susan Ross dies. He is now single and free but Susan's parents appoint him to help run a charitable foundation in honour of her memory. This means more work and it causes much angst for George in several episodes. Jerry meanwhile continues to meet some unusual characters, both men and women, making his usual observations and no friends along the way. Kramer is still living off Jerry and getting into mad schemes whereas Elaine becomes the boss at J Peterman's clothing catalogue.

This season was made after the departure of Larry David leaving Jerry Seinfeld to convey more of his own impression on the show. At first the transition seems ... Read More:

It is hard not to focus on the cast the spotless performance by every single actor and actress in this movie. What makes Legends of Fall a must-watch film is the extraordinary story that lies within. The viewers will be gobsmacked by events that will shatter a family and reunite a bond of love that carries an unbearable ethical burden. This is not a straight-forward movie, by this I mean there are several issues going on at the same time, constantly intriguing the viewer, yet the way this movie is made manages not to confuse its audience.

This movie is powerful because it emphasises on how love will always find its way, no matter where and when. Throughout the movie you will be filled with sadness, joy, anxiety, laughter, fear - the sort of "list" of feelings that ... Read More:

Why can't we get more films like this, a strong story, based on actual events, excellent performances and dialogue which sounds like it is based on how real people talk to each other?

I don't know how accurate this particular story about corporate deceit and environmental pollution is but, given the track record of big corporations, it should be a rich vein for film makers to mine. 'Erin Brockovich' is very good, a shocking story of land pollution and resultant death and disease in a community. A story, however, which would not have been told were it not for the efforts of one woman to get behind the obfuscation and at the truth. It's a juicy role and Julia Roberts grabs it for all she is worth, she is superb, full of anger and determination to use the opportunity to make ... Read More:

this box set is one of the best box set we have seen in recent years....they are films that will be remembered for along time......its a change to what we usually see coming out of hollywood, like all the blood and gore films..or the none stop shooting ones ....... not that they arent good films they are its just good to see that they can produce something else for a change, with a great star studded cast ..i mean they gotta be good to have a star cast like they have ......and this is defintly a film for the ladies not so much for the plot but for the cast anything with matt damon, brad pitt and george cloney in gets my vote ...... i also think that how the plot always has a twist keeps u watching and wanting to no more ..its great how everything is unveiled at the end... i feel that the ... Ocean's eleven is a brilliant heist film that I would recommend to any crime fans. It has everything needed for a heist movie such as clever plot twists and how did they do that that thinking.

The film is far superior than Ocean's tweleve and even more so than the original a real gem for a collection.
