Mike Myers is a comic genius with this trilogy of films that catapults sexy starlets - Liz Hurley (grrrr), Heather Graham (grrrrr) and Beyonce (grrrrr) - against Austin's evil nemesis, aptly named Dr Evil and played by Myers together with a cast of henchmen including Frau Farbissina, Scott evil, Mini-me (a one-eighth clone of Dr Evil), Fat Bastard (also Myers) and the wonderful 'No.2', played by Rob Lowe and robert Wagner (young/older). The plots are fantastical but no worse than a lot of bond films, the costumes superb, the music authentic(especially the specially put together band Ming Tea which feature Myers on lead and The Bangles' Suzannah Hoffs) and Austin's teeth a great ad for braces. This is truly a hilarious comedy programme, filled with both amazingly retarded storylines, including a hotile alien trying to turn Earth into "Monkey World". And brilliant characters in the form of Dick Solomon, the high commander struggling to appear normal. Sally Solomon, the security officer who forms a relationship with a cop nowhere near as attractive (played by Wayne Knight). Tommy Solomon, the infformation officer trying to be a normal teenager desperate to impress his girlfriends (to the point of going out to a prostitude to lose his virginity before prom night). Don't expect subtlety, or anything, but as Flintstones go, this is about as good as it gets. A clever script with innumerable visual jokes should ensure that you will be enjoying this treat as much as your children. The film is a prequel explaining how Fred and Barney met Wilma and Betty. Most of the credit here goes to these principals, who bring a unique charm to their roles, and although I didn't quite see Wilma like that, I was soon totally convinced. Alan Cummings, although truly awful as Mick Jagged - perhaps intentionally - is wonderfully smarmy as the Great Gazoo, the alien gratuitously, but entertainingly inserted into the drama. All in all, a cinematic and musical delight to be savoured.

More of the blissfully funny adventures of the aliens living on earth disguised as an eccentric earth family. This second series has some of the funniest episodes, including one of my very favourites, 'Gobble, Gobble, Dick' in which the Solomons experience their first Thanksgiving, and Harry is smitten by Mrs Dubchek's daughter Vicky. The part where Harry and Vicky have a romantic tryst in the kitchen, and end up doing very peculiar things with the turkey carcass, is absolutely hilarious. 'Jolly Old Saint Dick' where they experience their first Christmas, is also very funny, with Sally getting a job as a Christmas gift wrapper, and redistributing the gifts to different customers.
