Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not a film for the sober or the sane...
This is one of those films that is so weird you either hate it or love it. When I first watched this I thought it was a truly awful film. However, after a few beers this film is actually quite entertaining...If you want a film that is daft, simple to follow and has a true 80s feel, either buy a cheap copy (or better still rent) this film, kick back and spend an evening sniggering on the sofa. It is a bad film in a typically 80s-outrageous-hair-and-daft-outfits way. Yes, it's so terrible it is worth watching - as long as you don't expect anything more than slightly cheesey entertainment. To it's credit, it has got a pretty cool front cover!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - It's no Labyrinth
I'm writing this as a 30 year old with fond memories of "Howard the Duck" from watching it as a young nipper. Back then, it was easily one of the best films of my 80's childhood - Howard was the coolest, Lea Thompson was gorgeous, it was arguably 100 mins of pure comedy gold. So, when the DVD came out I decided to take a little trip down memory lane.

Reuniting my distant, loving memories of this film with the new DVD release was not quite the delectable experience I had hoped for. In fact, it was somewhat harrowing. Other than Lea Thompson still looking gorgeous, the story is crude at best, the script plain and the music gut wrenchingly awful. In short, I experienced the unwelcome realisation of why HTD had been such a flop ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - More adventure than humanly possible.
Ok, so Tim Robbins and others may want to forget this but I really love this movie and have waited for a DVD release, shame there are no real extras but no doubt many of the big names involved here have "moved on" and would regard this movie as a blot on their past history.
Sure it's not aimed at the same adult audience who loved the comic book, there's no hard hitting satire but it is at heart a fun movie and the special effects are superb.
It's a simple story of a bored duck flung out of his own world by accident and now trapped in a world he never made. He befriends a female rock singer and her "scientist" friend and an attempt to send him home threatens to bring down alien dark overlords.
Lea Thompson looks stunning with ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - got off ur hugh horse!
This film is a childhood fevourite, and for those who think this fil isn't watching, your wrong but hey your entitled to your views. so here's mine.

i actually couldn't wait for this film to come out on dvd, it's a film for kids, it has humour and is genrally fun to watch. The actors are great for playing such difficult roles and i praise them for being able to tackle these roles, its probably not easy talking to a duck. This is a clasic film about a hero.

if anything this film shows how talented George Lucas is by coming up with this storyline and just having a fanyastic imagination.
